KaizenSoze
I am thinking about trying out Dominators again. I won't go into why my first couple of attempts didn't go well. I do not want to poison the well. I have played Homecoming COX quite a bit and I have learned a few things about what I like and do not like. I am looking for a build with these features: A small attack rotation, controls/melee. I can handle clicking those few buttons a lot, but I find managing too many powers tiring. Not as young as I use to be. 4-5 powers, plus 1-3 occasional long recharge power Incarnates are not included in the count Can solo +2 or +3 easily, at least after perma-dom Ex-emps reasonable well. Not a very late bloomer. Is not a horrible end hog. I know perma-dom fixes a lot of end issues, but I like to ex-emp. Thank you for your advice. Coyote
Plant is great for low power usage. You use Fly Trap and Carrion Creepers, but both are on a long recharge. Then you use Seeds of Confusion usually once per fight, and then maybe Roots & Strangler if they're slotted for damage as part of your normal attack chain. Plant works great with most every secondary, but I like the ones that lower mob defenses so that once Confused they kill each other faster... Thorns, Rad, or Savage. Ice Control is not as strong, but it's also a low power usage... you run Arctic Air and drop Ice Slick, and then it's bashing time. It uses Endurance, though, so you may want to pair it with Dark Assault (to put Theft of Essence in Life Drain), or with Psy (for Drain Psyche), or Rad Assault (again, Theft of Essence). Of those, I think Rad and Savage are more melee-oriented.
DethStryke
Hey dad, go with earth/earth. Great control and powerful secondary. Jk on the dad thing, (48 here)
VV
I'll recommend Elec/Psi here. Elec/ has Conductive Field which is a nice +Rec/+Regen toggle aura. Turn it on and forget it. /Psi has Drain Psyche which is a PBAOE clicky that gives you +Rec/+Regen, also.
KaizenSoze
I tried a few builds. This one interests me the most at the moment. Character is only level 9 now. Electric control/Earth Assault Pros: 44.1% S/L def 39% Ranged def Proc'ed out multiple attacks Lots of damage mitigation, ele controls, mud pots, two ice rains. Things should be sleeping, confused, running, slowed, falling down Good ST damage and decent AOE Good end management. I am going to need it. Cons: Only 105% global recharge, but I have three attacks slotted with FF: Recharge. Not sure if that's going to be enough for perma, but I will find out. Coyote
Best place to put the ATO Orb IO is in a PBAoE damage power if it takes it. For Earth, that's Fissure. Unfortunately, it breaks up the set, but the set doesn't have a Recharge bonus so that's fine. For the other ATO set, it should go in a commonly used mez that benefits from Recharge, other than a Confuse (because you probably want Contagious Confusion there). For Ele/Earth, the AoE Hold if you take it, and Static Field if you don't.
VV
1 hour ago, KaizenSoze said: Electric control/Earth Assault This is a very solid choice, considering your criteria. 1 hour ago, KaizenSoze said: Only 105% global recharge, This is not enough and relying on the procs is going to disappoint you (I know from experience) 1 hour ago, KaizenSoze said: What is the general consensus on where to put the ATO sets? Do not slot the sets at all. Slot just the procs. In general, when slotting a non-damage power, 5-slot it with the purple set for the recharge bonus, and add in a damage proc if you can afford the extra slot. For any set with a damage component, slot it for damage. Try to use damage sets with a +recharge bonus. The thing is, all your controls are already plenty long, no reason to extend them, and you need the damage more. Otherwise, you can end up standing there all day plinking at an opponent who can't hit back. Edited February 3, 2020 by VV
oedipus_tex
I can't pull up the build right now but this looks like a pretty good start. A few things I can tell from reading just the forum post: Conductive Aura probably needs some Accuracy. APPS: I would go Mu Patron Pool over Ice. But doing this you'd lose your s/l shield. So, the trade off may be too substantial for you. Still I consider Power Sink (plus an extra pet with lightning attacks) so good paired with Electric Control that I have to mention it. Power Up >> Power Sink is a thing to be feared. Especially since Power Sink is auto hit. You should easily be flooring Elite Bosses in two clicks with that combo. That leaves any enemy at close range unable to use melee attacks and provides probably better safety than actual s/l armor. Static Field: Not worth slotting this with 5 slots. I'd move these slots to your AoE damage power Ice Storm (or whatever AoE damage power you end up with): Move the slots from Static Field to here. Chain Fences: Slot as an attack Seismic Smash: Probably worth exchanging the set bonuses for damage procs even if it lowers your overall defense Edited February 3, 2020 by oedipus_tex
KaizenSoze
I am fighting my instincts for building other ATs. I usually build for defense, then damage. I tweaked quite a bit due to your excellent feedback. Range def now dropped to 32%, but I manage to keep S/L soft capped. Haste is now 153.75%. I still have three FF: recharge slotted attacks. If you start off both Weave and Maneuvers with 2xLotG (Global Recharge and Def/End), you can afford to drop the purple set from Static Field, and then move the ATO set to Static Field. This frees you up to slot Chain for End Mod... and you can take a slot or two from Conductive Aura, it's over-slotted with End Mod right now. Another option is to do the above, and drop Chain Fences to about 2 slots (Accuracy/End Mod, probably), as it's good for sapping. Use the slots to put Apocalypse into Stone Spears. This way you keep the +10% Recharge from the Sleep set, gain the 15% from the 2 LotG, and get a better power slotted (Stone Spears over Static Field... Field is actually a better power, but doesn't need slots to be good, while Stone Spears does). If you can squeeze an extra slot, you could put another FF: Recharge in Stone Spears also.
