Best Support for Brute?

Hello all, glad to be back in coh!

 

Was thinking to back in the day when everyone knew that Kinetics speed boost was a /Stone Armors best friend. But what about the other armors?

 

What one other Support AT (corr/troller/def/MM) would make each of the other armors shine??

I’ll vote Time/Sonic Defender.

 

Time has massive defense and recharge buffs that help any Brute regardless of power set. Has heals in case things go south. -Res from Sonic helps the Brute murd-I mean, arrest faster.

depends on what sets the brute are.  Yeah, if you're going  /Stone armor and don't want to build to break even with damage, recharge, and movement speed (which you can do) then a Kin is your best friend.  But /Stone armor is such a good set that there is no reason not to build for those.

 

Depending on the set, would depend on the best support.  For a Defense based set, a Sonic/Sonic or Thermal/Sonic are going to be great to bolster support for when you do get hit, for a resist based set (assuming you can get close to the resist cap) Cold or  Time/Sonic would be your best friend for the same reasons.

Everyone forgets about Nature. Nature gives Resists too, plus the Absorb shield. The Tier 9 Damage buff isn't as great on Brutes as other ATs but the targetting regen / recovery patch is rather nice too.

At low levels titan weapons dark amor and to a lesser extent invulnerability struggle with endurance issues. Kin is great fir them or the other buffer that gives endurance. 
 

really most brutes achilles heal is their end bar. That is why they loathe super stunners malta sappers and carnies

Brutes probably don't need Support most of the time, unless you are playing really high difficulty as a duo or something. 

 

So often something like Kin to take advantage of all the +DMG brutes can leverage.

But if you do need Survival support then you want complimentary powers rather than stacking I think. 

 

So for a Defense Brute like SR or EA, then Sonic support would really boost their unkillable status.  

 

Or a Resistance Brute like Electric or Rad, then Force Field or Time or Dark.

 

My thinking is that you will max out the type or survival tools that your Secondary focuses on, thus the support offering additional tools is where it is at.

The same would go for supporting a scrapper or stalker.  Except they need more survival help.

 

An interesting choice might be to go Blaster instead.  Which will easily Out Damage any of those in actual Mission Conditions.   In which case a Force Field could actually shine since they would cap defense (for both of the duo eventually) and offer Mez protection to both.
