Mageman Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 (edited) I have a Rad/Fire/Mu Brute and a Spines/Fire/Mu Brute farmers (one on each of my two accounts). I was playing and I thought about having a Fire/Fire/Pyre brute as a farmer - and using Mids Reborn I found that the Fire/ doesn't have many PBAoE damage like Rad/ or Spines/ - which will probably be not as good a farmer. So I started thinking about changing my Rad/Fire from /Mu Mastery to /Pyre Mastery and I like the idea - I don't use Summon Stalker in Mu Mastery, so with /Pyre I get 3 attacks instead of 2. I would appreciate your suggestions on improving this build. Note - I dropped vengeance so I could take Super Speed for a travel power and slotted Prestige Power Slide with a +Stealth for doing missions when leveling. HelenCarnate Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 You get 1 aoe instead of 2. Mu is better for farming.

With Pyre Mastery, you get Fire Cages, Fire Blast, and Fire Ball. That's 3 AoEs instead of the 2 in Mu Mastery at the expense of losing a pet. 1

You get: Ring of Fire - ST Char - ST Fire Blast - ST, Awfully named since we all understand a Blast should be AoE, so I understand the confusion. Melt Armor - AoE but no damage and only accepts 2 damage procs. Fire Ball - AoE So effectively only 1 AoE at the expense of 3 slots instead of 2 necessary. Edited March 28, 2020 by Hopestar
Mageman Posted March 29, 2020 Author Posted March 29, 2020 Yes, I thought Fire Blast was an AoE based on the name. Ring of Fire - I was thinking Fire Cages (AoE immobilize) since Mu has Electrifying Fences (which is an AoE immobilize). Now that I understand this, I agree that Mu is better than Pyre. I would love Fire/Fire/Pyre brute if it made a better farmer. Oh well.
SeraphimKensai Posted April 2, 2020 Posted April 2, 2020 The best farmer money can buy is a rad/fire/mu brute.

I have a vet level 60 Spines/Fire/Mu brute and a vet level 30 Rad/Fire/Mu brute for farming. Personally, I prefer the Spines/ over the Rad/ brute. This could be because the Rad/ doesn't have all the incarnates yet and still doesn't have all the best I/Os. I would have thought that a Fire/Fire/Pyre brute would be about the same, but Fire/ doesn't have enough PBAoEs and AoEs and /Pyre doesn't have as many AoEs that /Mu does. Too bad, I would have liked to have something that's all fire and close to as good instead of mix and match to get the best. Unfortunately, Fire/Fire/Pyre brute isn't even close to the other two. Edited April 20, 2020 by Mageman Minor clarification.

Once the rad/fire is fully built it definitely overtakes the spines/fire, especially if you're running a map with Elite Bosses as you have another potential source of -resistance to apply which spines can't make up for. Also the casting time for atom smasher is quicker than spine burst, plus with the contamination aspect, you can get a reasonable chunk of extra AoE damage built into the rotation. That said the differences aren't going to turn a 4 minute run in arc 125 into a 3 minute run, but become significantly more noticeable on the larger/longer maps with EBs in them.
Rylas Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 As someone that resisted changing away from Rad/Fire/Pyre, I can tell you that Rad/Fire/Mu is definitely faster. I ate plenty of crow once I gave it a try. The four AoE's (Ball Lightning, Burn, Elec Fences and Atom Smasher – cycled in that order) on a high perma Hasten build turn out way more DPS. Request hi-res icons here. Download the Icon Pack here!
