I am very sorry I haven't been around.  I'm still not able to dive into the game like I would like to.  I wanted to explain how my year has been because you all deserve to know why your requests have gone unanswered the last few months 

 

At the start of the summer I had a really bad shingles outbreak which also made my long running gastro issues worse -inflammation throughout my body.  It took me from May to late July to get it under control.

 

August was just recovery mode and kids back to school and things started returning to normal just in time for Hurricane Helene to hit late Sept. We were right in the middle of the worst hit areas.  Not as bad as parts of NC but things are just now getting all of the debris off the roads where we are.

 

Next up my Mom had a hemorrhagic stroke Nov 11 and passed away Nov 13.  Totally unexpected -she was seemingly in good health.  It hit hard and for a few days was very very crushing, but I'm good now and at peace with it.  Still miss her though.

 

I really have wanted to be back in the mix of this but life just isn't allowing it right now -don't give up on me though please. I'm tanking life like a boss right now and still winning at +4/8 with a team wipe around me. 🤙😉. But it is doing damage -not going to lie.  I could use a stretch of easy right about now.

 

I will be back.  Just can't game right now my friends.  Thanks for following and keeping up with my crazy.

I see a lot of love for Shield Defense / Stone Melee .... but not a single build posted.   Ok, yeah, I'm one of those that can't be bothered to learn how to use MIDS to come up with a decent build.  But I love the look of SD/SM, and want to give it a try.   Anybody got a build they're no longer using, that they want to get rid of, cheap?

I always felt this would be a fun combo as well. Might be pretty end intensive.

With great power comes great.. endurance use. Yes. As tends to be the case in COH. Always has been.

Haha this made me laugh! Yeah absolutely, I’m sure the combo SMASHES. Once you have your build IO’d and incarnates, endurance probably isn’t an issue.

Having seen some very nasty tanker builds in the old days, even pre CoV, I can confirm endurance issues are always fixable. If you are willing to throw enough at the problem. It tends to be worth the sacrifice in other areas too. Stamina was always the intended bottleneck for gameplay, and it's why they resisted giving everyone the stamina tree for free so much. I can't really flash numbers at people, but I knew an insane tanker back in the day. Pre COV even. No set ever seemed intended to be simply better, but some of those design points are weird things like 'easier to level than this other set' or 'a huge pain of end management holding back your raw power at bad times'. Yet results speak for themselves. 

Bottlenecks are often merely opportunities in disguise in COH. It's worth investigating the potential, at least.

Yes, I'm aware that every mention of this combo also complains about the Stamina.   But as BuiltDifferent points out, hopefully, I can overcome that.  *Hopefully*.  Guess I'll see.
