Elec/Dark Tank as my 1st tank? Looking for advice/feedback/comfort/yelling :)

So I have played Dark/Dark Brutes, my primary is a Dark/Dark Corruptor....  And decided I would rather play a Tank when I melee.  I am familiar with dark melee & thought an excellent pair with Electric Armor.

 

Two Endurance regen powers, heals, etc... + Dark's Fear.... add in some knockdowns from pools seems like a solid combo.  Using Mu or Soul Mastery Patron Power

 

However I see very few Electric and no Electric/Dark Tanks talked about.

 

Any feedback or views on this most appreciated .

Pre-shutdown I had a DM/Electric Brute which was totally awesome in term of survivability and sustained damage output because the combination has good resists, two heals (including one which is usable as an attack), an incredible self-buff via Soul Drain, and of course two sources of regenerating endurance. Toss in Hasten and it was an unstoppable machine.

 

I once asked one of the few other DM/Electric Brutes I saw why so few people seemed to realize what an incredible combination it was and his response was that he did not know but he was fine with it being just the select few in the know. If it were not for the fact that I hate replicating powersets, when I got into playing Tankers I would have seriously considered an Electric/DM Tanker.

 

Is is hard for me to see how it could not work out.

My guess would be that DM is just so useful, that many defense pair well with it. Elec/ probably doesn't see as much pairing since it's resistance based and the -tohit from /DM has more synergy with defense based sets. Also, it's not the only one to double heals and end recovery with /DM. Bio/, Fiery/, and Ice, will also do the same.

 

That said, /Elec is a pretty damn sturdy set. I have no doubt it makes for a great combo. Add in a soft-cap S/L through IOs and Weave and I'm sure you could take on a lot of x8 groups.

 

Hmm... now you got me thinking about doing the same on either a brute or tank. Thanks!

I ran one in a hardcore SG. Also did the brute version. Currently have a tank version. Just waiting for its turn in the queue in terms of leveling. Back in the day I asked someone from my SG about end game brute version, and they said they liked it a lot.
