Continuing the series of AR/(Something) is a request from another old SG associate. They had an AR/Traps that they loved even though it sucked. Traps still sucks, but with various sets finally getting reworked... 

 

Straight up, this was almost a near slot-for-slot backport from the Blaster AR/Dev. Which is also why there's an R2 in a moment.

I feel I need to stress... this wasn't anything I had ever played. So the R2 was an attempt to optimize the build based on how the player who was looking for a build remembered playing their Live character. 

 

So there's probably significant room for improvement. That being said, the R2 hits the same high point as the Blaster takes. Soft-capped to Ranged Defense without Agility Incarnate and theoretically with scaling enhancements as early as a Citadel or Moonfire TF. 

 

Where it gets absolutely disgusting is that it reaches those numbers without [Force Field Generator]. With Agility and [FFG] in play this build is soft-capped to Incarnate S/L/E/N/R defenses. 

 

Accolades up and [Triage Beacon] out it's over ~36hp/s regen... on a Corr.

This is a spin on the R2 dropping the Character Concept Experimentation pool in favor of the Speed Pool

 

[Time Bomb] takes a bit of a hit so it's no longer providing extra Regeneration or more hit points, but it picks up the PvP-Res proc on the basis of... well... if you have time to use [Time Bomb] might as well get a debuff out of it. 

 

[Hasten] picks up in the level 50 slot, and while it's about a 4~5s delta off of perma (122.6s/120s :: 2.6x1.75=4.55s), it's not actually doing much else. [Full Auto] falls from 19.93s to 16.17s, and that's about the only usable power with greater than a 1.5s drop. [Time Bomb] benefits, but it's easily the most skippable power outside of [Seeker Drones]. Which, again, was a concept power selection, but still provides a useful longer-term debuff. So, compelling reasons to actually take [Hasten]

 

The other major reason for going this way is that [Super Speed] will stack with the Celerity Stealth Proc in [Sprint]. So if you are soloing and using [Trip Mine] on a regular basis, you can get a little closer to the intended targets. Personally that timing / delay issue makes [Trip Mine] largely impractical, but I have seen successful uses on BAF, ITF, and LRSF.

I have tons of Device toons.. 

Device is great.. You can defense cap with just about SO's in the 30s.. 

It is a great solo set..  

AR damage isn't the best because of the damage type.. But again having several AR toons I can solo 3/8 with on issue on my AR Device..  I also have a AR Traps defender at defense cap as well But the difference is the damage output compared to my AR Device is lacking.. 


Nutshell here is a Sonic Traps at defense cap.. Swap out seeker drones for triage beacon..

 

I just disagree that AR sucks or Traps sucks.  
Robot Traps was the first tankermind build.. Its in my signature.. The same player whom wrote why defense cap is important and explained the math..
