I've put together a theme build. The backstory is that a Dr. Vahz disciple resurrects King Tutankham, a famous historical figure, to draw the world's attention to what the ideas of Dr. Vahz can do. He seeks to show how being undead can be better than being alive by imbuing King Tut with extra powers by using a stolen magical focus and an (also stolen) item touched by the Well of Furies as part of the resurrection process. 

 

The Vahz disciple succeeds all too well at making the resurrected King Tut powerful. Now King Tut's royal voice is a voice of command and power, which along with a variety of other powers now at King Tut's disposal mean that the Vahz disciple now serves King Tut, instead of the other way around. 

 

For now he'll solo through Praetoria as a member of the resistance because (of course) King Tut bows to nobody and his plan is that one day everybody will bow to him. Eventually he'll team up with others, as and when it suits his purposes. 🙂 

 

The functional goals for the build are good damage and layered, solid overall defenses. Getting melee and ranged defense to the 20s makes it relatively easier to be softcapped (or better) by teammate buffs. This isn't a tankermind build because taking damage is what vassals do to serve their king, and all that. Also, liquefy is up about 1/3 of the time with this build, which makes it more useful than it often ends up being. It 's also the only place to put a force feedback +recharge IO, other than grave knights (and I don't know whether force feedback in pets gives a recharge boost to the MM or to the pet itself).

I'm not really sure how to interpret accuracy values vs high defense mobs, for example, and so I perhaps do overdo accuracy from time to time. If there's a simple way to interpret the accuracy value then I'd be happy to learn what that is (I've tried reading online, but could never quite catch on to it). 

 

Looking at the character planner it lists the accuracy for sonic siphon as 178.5% with 2 level 50 accuracy IOs in it. With 1 accuracy IO it's listed as having 140.5% accuracy. 

 

Incidentally, unless pets are keeling over my MM doesn't have a lot of things to do other than casting life drain / power boost fairly regularly, repositioning pets as needed, and casting liquefy / soul extraction / shields every so often. Plus, sonic siphon is a force multiplier for pet damage, which makes using it lead to more damage than using life drain (or power boost) would do.

One question I've not been able to resolve is to figure out how to adjust for mobs that have higher-than-default defense values, and to adjust further for having +to hit values in play for my character(s). It's probably not that complicated. I've just not run across how to do it. 

 

Having tactics toggled on and 2 accuracy IOs in sonic siphon brings the base accuracy value for sonic siphon to 95% against +4 mobs that have zero defense, with no "-to hit" debuff on my character.

Alternately, you can set base values to 48 for +3, which will account for the Alpha slot's +1 level shift - @kiramon's line of thinking. Building for +4 is usually overkill when you have access to the level shift since if you're under 45, you won't have access to the slotting enhancement when exempted. Functionally, the power is really only useful on EB/AV targets when at max level. 

 

While leveling, you may wish to pick up Heal Other as that will be a big help in keeping your pets topped off until you get to the Level 32 upgrade and the pets can start healing themselves. and until you can slot the unique resistance pet IOs.  

 

For the build, Power Boost does very little for your character. There are only a couple of powers that it helps (mainly Liquefy). As a throw-away power, something other than that might be more useful (like Clarity if you intend to team often). As for the force feedback proc, I never found it useful in Liquifey as the recharge being too long to have any appreciable impact.  Here is a tweak/suggestion to your build. It swaps out the Winter set in Brawl while still maintaining its S/L softcap numbers. It also removes some of the range defense bonuses while still keeping Energy defense above 32.5 (within a small purple of softcapping).  S/L resistances are raised a hair to over 60%, and psi resistance is almost doubled (I saw that you had a couple bonuses to that effect, so figured "why not"). Since you had 8 pts. of KB protection, this adds a little more to provide protection to almost everything in game; however, 4 pts. with Hover is usually sufficient. 

 

For Pet slotting, finding a way to get the Soulbound Allegience build-up proc in the Grave Knight is a big boost (and well worth losing the small damage bonus from Expedient Reinforcement since those bonuses don't have any impact on pet damage, only the MM's), as well as moving slots to max out the Lich's damage (every little bit helps). It looked like the Mark of Supremacy slotting was to mule 10% recharge, so the specific IOs are merely shifted around.

Alternate thought: you could lower the values of S/L to 40% and raise E to the same level and build Barrier Core as your destiny. That will give you softcapped numbers for those three damage types if you cast on cooldown. 

 

Overall, fun build and a great pairing. I ran one on retail (based on Amy Winehouse -- don't judge!) and have started to rebuild that character with the new IO goodies here on Homecoming.

When the time comes you might actually look at barrier rather than ageless as @Nyghtmaire mentioned.  Between cardiac and barrier you can get all your pets solidly into the 80's min on resistance %.  Resistance is a bit like defense in that the closer you get to cap the stronger it gets in a way.   At capped (90%) they are taking half the damage they are taking at 80% resistance for example.  

 

I managed to get my endurance issues under control (not easy to do with this combo, but doable), and actually went resilient and barrier to absolutely max it.  Thanks to them, my pets all have around 87% minimum resistance to all but psi (which is at 'only" 67% or so).  When barrier is at higher numbers (during the 1st minute), they are pretty much fully capped at 90% resistance to all but psi and even psi is at a nice number, especially compared to what most other pets can get to.   I rarely have to worry about them and they tank quite nicely.  Also thought about rebirth, but barrier actually lets them take alpha's better.

 

Maxing my pets tankiness I find more useful than the +rech or +end that ageless gives. 

 

I'd also suggest trying to fit in gloom, which is one of the best attacks a MM can get.  I add significant dps to fights by spamming life drain and gloom (with 3 damage procs).  Sonic is a chill secondary so you have plenty of time to attack.  I can understand if that doesn't fit your playstyle or RP though.

Here's the build I have in mid's. I can't remember what I changed on my actual character... anyways - I find zero problems in this build, and rarely have even a zombie die in 8x4 groups.

 

And it has 107% acc vs +3 with Sonic Siphon =P.... although most of my time is spent on Fireball/Fireball/Char/Gloom/Life Drain ... yah I'm a very active MM on the damage front. 

 

however, I use the Healing destiny rather than the +def/resists.

There are multiple build patterns that seem to work well. Given my preferred playstyle I lean more toward trying to make resilience alpha and barrier destiny work. Gloom and life drain look like a good combination, as well, to add DPS.   

 

Edit: I went ahead and put together an alternative build, based on feedback offered. It's given below. I ended up scrapping some of the ideas given here before, so it seems better to simply delete that and substitute the thinking behind the latest build, which is given below ...

Highlights of the build ...

 

DPS
Accuracy was overdone in the previous build (ty for helping me see that!) and shuffling a few slots around opened up new possibilities to increase DPS. Extra slots led to 3 personal attacks for King Tut (life drain, gloom, and mace beam volley*), instead of just life drain as per the older build. DPS will be noticeably better now. 
IOs have been shuffled around to increase damage by the lich, which Riverdark had been suggesting. It was a good suggestion, ty!

 

* As a brief side note to DPS, mace beam volley provides greater safety when opening up on a spawn than either single target attack could because mace beam volley can do knockdown on many mobs at once. Plus, the +recharge FF IO in mace beam volley is helpful for more quickly bringing powers back. 

 

Defenses:

Still softcapped S / L defenses, energy still low 30% range, multiple others hovering above or near 20%

Giving up power boost means no easy way to noticeably boost defenses outside of casting barrier or chewing inspirations. 

 

Resistances:

The combination of resilience and barrier (incarnates) boosts most resists in a noticeable way.

The weakness to psionic damage still exists. 

50% resistance to recharge and movement debuffs will be helpful, on occasion. 

Pets should be noticeably tankier with the added resists from resilience and barrier. 

 

Sustain

Health management should be easier because of more unique IOs that boost health / absorb 

Endurance management is the potentially biggest challenge. I may need to tweak the build further to get endurance management under control. Still, since end game play will take place mostly in teams, ageless is likely to be available anyways, even if not taken for King Tut.
