Ultimo
I have a character who leaves a fire trail when he moves. He also flies, and when he does so, the fire trail completely obscures the camera, making it impossible to see where I'm going. I can zoom IN, or I can pan to the left or right (using the mouse wheel) without changing the character's direction, but if I try to pivot the camera up or down, which would be preferable, it instead makes the character change direction up or down. Is there some way to pivot the camera up or down without changing the course of the character's movement?
Luminara
Hold down PageUp (or is it PageDown...) while panning. Press the other Page* key to revert the camera to default zoom level and position. Get busy living... or get busy dying. That's goddamn right. Ultimo
Ya, I tried that, it does the same thing as the mouse wheel.
MTeague
If you set direction and go to auto-run and THEN pan the camera, I think you'd be fine. But if you're doing fine control, constatly holding down the "forward" key and adjusting your direction with the mouse, etc as you fly, then yea, it won't work. For the most part I don't use path-auras that are enabled during flight. There's a Ground Only option.... if that fits your character. For my Plant/Psi dominator, having the path aura of leaves makes sense to be ground-based. But I guess if you're more of a Johnny Storm / Human Torch... yea, you'd want it flying too. Ultimo
Ya, he's the Incendiary Man, kind of a Torch homage. However, it doesn't help using autorun, as most of the time, that's what I'm doing.
Vulpoid
/bind KEY "SuppressCloseFX 1$$SuppressCloseFXdist 300" This will turn off your aura for you, in your view only. Others will still see it. /bind KEY "SuppressCloseFX 0" will turn it back on. Pick two keys you like. Hew
Hold right mouse button down and move your point of view around till you find one that works. I tend to be about 45 degrees up and off the plane from the char. Works great! Push end twice to back out distance and im cooking with gas!
