I recently started a Tanker and due to the great people running free farms constantly I now have a incarnated 50.  Okay, the incarnating is 50+2 and a lot of work to go lol.  I took my SS/Invul Brute and basically used 90% of that.  But I think it is a bit of a poor fit.  Any advice on how to squeeze it onto the AT better would be appreciated.

I swapped a few sets around and boosted all your resistances - especially Psionic and toxic and got your melee defense to 48% - at the expense of typed defense - but once invincibility saturates -  Nothing should bother this build too bad.

Just added agility core also.

Thank you.  That is a whole evolutionary step (maybe 2) above what I slapped together.

Oh, yours wasnt bad at all - in fact it took me a min or two to wrap my brain around how to improve it without changing what made it uniquely yours.

But all the same - glad I could help!

If you looked closely you may see some familiarity.  The build is yours Hyperstrike.  Except you posted it on a request I made for a Brute.  And I still have the thing unaltered.  But I then just sort of reverse crammed it onto the Tank.  Which is why things are a bit hinky.  So then I tried to solve it....enough said.

Couple of thoughts:

Curious, Rune of Protection is an odd choice - its not perma or even close right?  Why not just build up the psionic and toxic with sets and use melee core which is up more often than Rune is?

Also you really are missing out on extra damage by not putting the gaussian proc in Invincibility.

Also if you go Agility core instead of Resilient you will get the endurance boost and never really have to worry about double slotting stamina  Plus Resilient is overkill because once the ATO proc fires at least twice you are close to capped on every category anyway - that combined with your defense from saturated invincibility means nothing will touch you anyway.

I also like to boost up the melee defense - where you live and breath death on your enemies - shoot for at least 45% and any short coming you may have in psi or toxic melts away.

Finally i would probably go laser beam eyes over Hurl because of two reasons, larger cast time on hurl - and laser beam eyes doing pure energy dmg with -def on the enemy.  If you have to go ranged that adds up faster than smashing lethal with a longer cast time - unless for theme you really like the hurl animation - i totally get that.

Here is an updated update to that build with the above reflected changes in case you want to humor futher revisions.

WIth a free slot at the end for whatever madness you would like to add.

68789817_BeforeandAfter.jpg.b82059555b981f5e21b22cccedbbac75.jpg

If you need more resistance - you can activate melee core at your disposal - but honestly i dont think you would ever need to under those parameters.

Yeah, maybe I'm missing the need for Rune of Protection as well.

I liked the adding a slot to Invincibility for the Gaussian's. The rest.. I may have gone is a little different direction ignoring Incarnates.

Can we swap out the Panacea in Dull Pain for Preventative Medicine? (gonna need any extra PvPs for all the Shield Walls, etc)

Finding a way to add one slot to Health for a Numina Convalescence Heal = +29% regen

(Somehow also adding a Regenerative Tissue unique to Health could be another 25%.. Add one more slot to Dull Pain for another Numina = +12%.. I like me some Regen)

I swapped Hurl for Cross Punch with a full set of Oblits (can do Armageddons if preferring +Res F/C/T/P and a smidge more recharge)

I also swapped the Sorcery Pool for the Concealment Pool. (This gave me slots to use for the above & grab some extra Def running Stealth PLUS let me single slot a couple LOTGs)

Leaving one or two power slots remaining for some flavor (Weaken Resolve, Super Speed, Hasten, Fly, etc).

Why *ROP*?

Tight build.  Not really sure it's possible to build  to that level of Incarnate Soft Cap Defense, high Big Six Resist AND picking up the Ancillary Resists without compromising.

Also, ROP is a better option than Invuln's T9 (Unstoppable).
It recharges faster and is crashless.

Yes, the build forgoes high Recharge.  But the idea is to basically deliver as Tank as is possible, and then an "Oh Shit" button to cover the odd times when Tox/Psi really matter.

Yes, I'm aware I'm foregoing the chance to bump damage with the Gaussian.
Stuff I build doesn't really rely on procs (Outside of Health and Stamina).
I tend to prefer a very ""steady state" performance build.

Maybe this makes me stupid.  But it's how I am.

IMNSHO, I view trying to chase positional Defense on a Typed build as wasteful.
If you wind up with it as an unintended side-effect?  C'est la vie.
But actively chasing it meanse you're likely foregoing something in other areas.

The Hurl+Char in this was basically purely set bonuses-related..

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

"Oh Shit Button".
ROP is nominally a faster-charging Unstoppable.  It carries you through the first 90 seconds of an encounter at nigh-maxed Resists and the basic build STILL keeps that stuff in the "tickle fight" category.

Gaussian, Full PM, Add a slot in health.

Which then all compromise other aspects of the build.

If I'm sitting at Incarnate Soft Cap and on 80%+ Resists, Regen and a Heal (with or without Absorb Shield) is kinda a "six of one, half dozen of the other type solution.

Stealth: On an Invuln Tank  ALREADY exceeding Incarnate Soft Cap Defense, Granite-class Resists and pretty much able to Tanker-Stealth their way through anything.  Especially when I'm a big fan of Diamagnetic to Debuff ToHit.

Unsure of the utility.

If you want to slot LOTGs and Recharge, look at the link to my Invuln Framework stuff.
That's the build you want.

This build is meant for something else.

yep yep. I don't disagree.

I like Rune of Protection where I can bookend it with something like Moment of Glory. ( MoG -> RoP -> MoG )

I was building for no incarnates with enough defense to cover melee and absorb some debuffs. Maybe not the uberest, just showing some variety,

My point is you really don't need it either way - the build is unkillable without wasting the 2 slots to get ROP.  Plus you get melee core without wasting any slots which works better IMO if you feel the need for an OS button.

Recharge doesnt really matter, but the toxic and psi does - especially late/end game it's everywhere - thats why you build for those and also add positional melee defense - because it covers you against toxic - which you don't get any typed defense for because it doesn't exist.

I don't proc monster either, but IMO Thats an easy one slot proc that provides a valuable dmg boost.

You aren't giving up anything to get it really because every category but fire resist and slight energy defense is boosted across the board.

Again its valuable for the couple of attacks not covered by typed defense.

68789817_BeforeandAfter.jpg.b82059555b981f5e21b22cccedbbac75.jpg.d13292802b967a81c0715143556af35d.jpg

So I'll stand by adding th melee defense because it is valuable to have to close any holes not covered by the rest of the build which doesnt sacrifice - in fact its stronger than the original in every way but two - which will be unnoticeable - especially since the MotT proc can fire at least 2 more stacks of 6% to the fire resists which is the only part given up slightly to gain the rest.

THis morning I missed the attached build!  I just re read it.  THis is the exact thing I was trying to create.  Thanks Hyperstrike!  Thats two of my 9 filled out builds I keep that are your design.  Now i need to go shopping and respec!

Okay, I re-worked this onto a Invulnerable / Dark Melee.  I do believe it is tougher than the Invul / SS  and I would hazard meaner as well.

Try again.
You did the whole build with Saturated Invincibility.

You're essetially 40/40/34 on your Typed defenses.

And on that note, asked for an OFFICIAL DB tweak in Mids to allow Invincibility with ZERO enemies in range.

*facepalm.  grrr.   I could not understand why Defense walked itself home all across the board.  Sigh.  How the F you change that again? (found it)

Thankfully the solution is easy.  Swap out a Superior Blistering cold for Hecatomb in Midnight Grasp.

*facepalm.  grrr.   I could not understand why Defense walked itself home all across the board.  Sigh.  How the F you change that again? (found it)

Thankfully the solution is easy.  Swap out a Superior Blistering cold for Hecatomb in Midnight Grasp.

Basically you can right-click on Invincibility.  Then, on the Info tab, there's a green slider.  Saturated is all the way to the Right.  Default minimum is 1, all the way to the Left.

This still leaves you with a slightly unreal view of a build.
I tend to go in and tweak Invincibility in the database so the minimum is 0.

Your ENFC Defense is still uncapped.

If you want to be godlike, pick anything.

If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

thanks at least now i know to eyeball it.  i can carry the 1+% in my head as i build.  the 15% i had no idea was there really threw me.  if i built tanks more instead of brutes i might have noticed.  i was already in awe of the armor differences.  I tried recreating this build on a Brute, inverted. Not even close.  So on the Brute I moved to Purple sets and a high recharge build with Hasten Perma.  Which gives Soul Drain perma.  I am thinking the Brute will be way more powerful than the +8% damage I have heard bandied around.  Although the Tank is insanely more armored.

I have a little experience with brutes and res sets - would you be opposed to humoring a dark dark setup?

I would love to see it.  My main is a dark dark Brute.  800 badges in and probably time for a review of ideas on changing the build up (and/or adding a second build)

Can you post it so i can see what your theme - or direction is on it?

Here it is.  I need to change a few things based on my playstyle.  Touch of fear is useful.  In really oddball situations.  I used  it to keep RoMs healing nictus off balance and killed it. Don't ask it was a horribly stupid ITF.  But the power does stack with cloak of fear and hits 5 under the new rules.  I need to figure a way to Enhance Gloom.  I use it A LOT.  Even if that means using Smites slots to do it.

Then of course, any brilliant optimizations would be great too lol.

it looks like I should try to softcap S/L    Not a big worry for me.  While not the Tankiest build the Stealth + Fear Aura +Stun Aura +tohit debuffs on everything does a decent job of damage mitigation even in....well, remarkably stupid ITFs and Farms.  If anything I would like to increase resistance while keeping/enhancing global recharge.

Thinking all night.  Under pressure I would have loved Rune of Protection last night.  I could drop gloom and pick up clunky Arcane bolt.  (sniping surgeons is my favorite use for the power.  trying to be ranged is not effective so it might improve my playstyle to drop Gloom.  Arcane Bolt has KD and a Sup Winter with -speed / Rech would harass better ) Since a one slotted gloom on a Brute is meh at best this is a possible trade out that doesnt give up much.  Then, drop Touch of Fear and Grab Rune of Protection.  I rarely use Touch of Fear.  In tough fights I would love Rune.  I would not need to slot Rune for Recharge.  The build is a Recharge monster.  In effect I could drop in one of the resist Procs and GAIN a slot somewhere else on the build...  I am thinking adding an enhancer to Cloak of Fear.  Get a proc for damage and the two set gives a 2.25% energy/Neg Resistance.... Both small improvements, yet it all adds.  And the rolling added Resistance which would be up 50% time....
