SFMA Review: AE Arc 16299 - Jerk Hackers!

Jerk Hackers! is a 3 mission arc with a deliberately dumb  plot and lots of custom characters.

 

The bad: the plot being dumb is not bad.  But there just is not enough text to flesh it out and make it interesting.  It feels like placeholder text.  Enough info to tell you what is going on, but not enough to make it interesting.

 

The good: the missions themselves are the kind I really like.  Lots of things to do and details, most of which are not mandatory.  There are patrols wandering about, things villains are guarding, different groups of villains, NPC chat, etc.  The enemies are all custom and the names and designs are interesting and fit the plot. 

 

The first mission is a fairly large outdoor map.  You have to find things.  You can skip most of the fighting and just look for the things.  I cleared almost all of it as I was enjoying checking out the different enemies.

 

The next two missions are fairly short indoor missions.   The maps are medium size with a lot of details but as most are optional you can get through fairly quickly if you want (especially as a stalker).

 

I recommend the arc for those who like mission details.  Playing the missions felt very different than a normal radio mission.

 

I do wish some more work was put into the text.

Cool, more reviews!  I was watching for @cranebump's Under The Radar Reviews but he's pretty busy right now.  Good to see more!

I did your Dark Deeds in Galaxy City part 1 yesterday and it was good.  I didn't bother with a review since it is already a Dev choice arc.  I need to play the other parts of the arc.

If you circle around Atlas Plaza/City Hall you can see all the Meteors out chatting to the press.

Thank you for playing! Jerk Hackers is a mission from the old game that I republished here.  My newer material is a bit more sophisticated but features the same kind of humor.

I played...Ecloga Prima?  Fascinating.  All in Latin, and my Latin is 20+ years unused.  Brain creaking under the strain!  Enjoyed it though. If I'm remembering the right AE!
