Blueside contact sending me to Port Oakes?

I called the blueside contact Maxwell Christopher while I was in Sharkhead, when set as a vigilante, and he set me a mission that was in Port Oakes. Went in, all was fine and completed, just very odd?

Are you sure it was Maxwell Christopher? Everything I find says he is a FBSA Agent that is stationed in Founders Falls, not Sharkhead Island.

I have never spent a great deal of time Redside, but was unaware of there being any Hero Contacts there at all, maybe I just missed it.

Yep, 100%. I was set as a vigilante, had just finished a SF, and then called Maxwell from the ferry in Sharkhead. He gave me the mission here.

I noticed this a lot during the Valentine event, where pure heroes would receive holiday tips that tried to send them to talk to Rogue Isles NPCs.  These characters typically use their hero alignment power frequently, and as such couldn't do this without losing it for a week.

Are there hero/ vigil/ rogue/ villain Valentine’s tips? I got set on my villain toon to go see Anti-Matter and thought nothing of it. The weird bit about this is that Maxwell is a specific blue side contact and, because of where I was, the game decided to send me to a red side city. I wonder if it goes “Set mission in random city” but not “set mission in random blue side city”

This is probably like tips; Tips spawn wherever you are geophysically (with some extremely rare cases), which why tip teams run out of atlas (smallest distance between tips, + ease of access to resources/noob filler).

 

In the case of a vig taking a "hero" case on redside, the mish would spawn in an appropriate location redside as far as I can tell. At least, this would be the case for NEW contacts (for a given value of "new" being the last 5 or so issues of live)

I guess the ‘appropriate location’ reasoning is sound. It’s going “player will likely want to stay on the side they’re on”. However I’d argue that’s still a bug for a purely blue side contact, esp one whose missions have been around a lot longer than there has been the option to even play as a villain, let alone shades of grey.

Just a tip:  HC has it's own (though unofficial) wiki now.  Paragon Wiki is 'frozen in time' as the game was at Sunset.  HC Wiki is (slowly) being brought up-to-date to match the current game.
