Another farmer build- I need food for my COH family

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have gotten three alts to 50 and they need influence to finish their builds. I have my Spines/Fire Brute farmer up to level 42 and want to see if anyone has any improvements to this final build. He will be used just for farming and I would like him to be able to do +4/8. Right now is endurance and defense are holding him back. I would like to focus on keeping the build from being too expense though and avoid most purple IO sets for that reason.

Thanks ahead of time for any advise.

I am too burned out to build or correct a farmer, I would probably come off as an asshole, but there are some major considerations for thoughts to look at

This is your build, flipping out about half the sets.  Notice how empty they are, you are only at 42.5% defense where as it was like 55% but you only need 45%.   A single taunt set of Mocking Beratement in consume will push you over the 45% defense and pick up some recharge.

You lack recharge, go for at least 120-140% while incarnate Ageless  Core (Destiny Incarnate) covers the rest (Barrier pushes you way over the defense cap)  or build up to 180% with 2 IO Recharge boosted to +5 makes it perma.  Cross punch is useless, you got plenty of cones in spines.  Picked up vengeance, slot LoTG +7.5 recharge in all your defense powers.  Quills and Blazing Aura, slot 5x for an IO bonuses and schockingly you will get more bang for your buck with straight +DMG/ACC/End reduction in the toggles over the 4 procs.  Slot the armor toggles with Aegis, focus on anything with endurance reduction because using the pure +resist vs an endurance/recharge (looks useless, that recharge)....you end up way over resist cap and the endurance reduction will solve the stamina problem; Aegis Res/End, End/Rech, Res/End/Rech is the 3 you should look at.

And you still have 13 extra slots I unassigned, use this as a template and focus on recharge.  Don't 4 slot Stamina and Health, realistically only the default with a pancreas and performance shifter is what you will need.  Farming is about speed, not about keeping the gas tank full.

Thanks for the very helpful feedback. I was wondering if I was focusing too much on defense as I am able to do some +4/8 content with only 32% fire defense already at level 46.

I have used your revisions of my build and got my fire defense up to 46%, recharge at 140%, and focused on endurance reduction while also being able to hit both hard and fast.

Your comments about wanting to be fast are very helpful. As I level I was more focused on being able to survive but as I get my IO build in and my incarnate abilities I realize that wont be much of an issue. My experience as I level up has been that I am pushing the envelope and don't always survive large mob adds. My future focus will be on just mowing them down fast to maximize influence/hour.

I am still not sure I agree with your comments about Cross Punch. What is the fast way to take down elite bosses? I would think I need some more high damage single target attacks. The cone is nice but Cross Punch also has a recharge bonus.

Here is my revised build. Any thoughts appreciated.

At work right now so can't look at the build but I was doing the same with my fire brute using +def inspirations; once I hit 47 I had to turn the level down as it began to be a slog.  NPC 51-54 seemed to get a different stat modifier and felt like they were harder to kill with a half ass build.

I like cross punch, had it part of a half ass build before respecting.  Just doesn't seem useful when fully built and finished.  I forgot about the Fighting pool and it's synergy with kick/punch; good idea.

Actually, if its a Cone it can fit some decent IO sets; seen some wonky melee attacks coded wierd; melee attacks with 90 cone are actually a 360 degree PBAoE with a firing arc.  Spines is confusing as it has a Ranged AOE, 2 PBAoE, a Ranged attack and Melee.  Need to check when I get home, don't like Spines personally after trying it.

Try this, tweaked around some stuff.  You were franken slotting for minute +recovery, but if you turn off tough you are good to go and Ageless Core Epiphany has you covered.

------------

  • Ageless Epiphany has your stamina recovery covered
  • An extra 20% recharge
  • Changed Mu Mastery choice selections, electric fences and Ball lighting.  Both have a -Resist proc, adds some utility.
  • Quills is slotted with an brute ATO set, another freebie slot if you don't want the other ATO with +regen/End proc
  • +5 boost : All the LoTG defense sets and the standard IO Recharge in Hasten and Firey Embrace
    • You can +5 boost everything, but its gonna run about 250 million extra
      • upside, you are pushing max dmg (small gain) but it also increases +ACC/End Reduction/Recharge (bigger gain, yeah its tiny but it pushes you closer to ED cap)
  • The sets look funky, but the brute ATO in Burn gives it 7 sec recharge and under 6 when Ageless is running, -resist proc in it makes it far more reliable when it procs vs in a damage aura toggle

And damn, that last brain fart with the brute ATO made me realize I might need to revamp a couple of builds.  Faster Burn recharge, hits hard against even a EB like a single target.

If you see Deadbloke on Excelsior, send a tell.  I don't mind running farms with someone else, makes the game a little less boring.

I'm somewhat late, but here is my build. Fire Defense is softcapped, with lots of recharge and not as expensive as the builds above. The Ragnarok in Ball Lightning is not necessary. There are some slots for +health and +regeneration for afk farming, wich are also not necessary when active farming, so there is some room to put them somewhere else.

Lunge as a ST is useless for a farmer and i find myself never using Spine Burst, because the animtion time is to long.

This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.4.7

The Ragnarok in Ball Lightning is not necessary.

Neither is the +DMG by itself, the entire set is close to capped damage/acc/recharge/endreduc and adding incarnate +DMG enhancement (the partial when equipped) bonus isn't a huge increase; like 7% over ED 95% DMG cap.  The KB is to knock stuff on their ass, not a huge benefit but keeps them from running off.

Change your slotting and put the Superior Frozen set into Discharge; Discharge is terrible IMO because its a narrow cone and most baddies will be in PBAoE range of everything else so the only time to use it is outside the Burn mosh pit..  Put Ragnarock and Positron into the Ball Lighting/Electrifying fences; reason is the 16 target cap without giving enough mag to immobilize with Superior Frozen +Chance/Immb a boss outside Burn radius.  You slot damage procs as the 6th slot in Ball/Elec-Fenses; should use the Annihilation  -Resist and add some utility; they don't stack together but you can just stack corpses as you can continue to cast it nearly every time.

You 4 slot tempture protection, using a wasted slot with Unbreakable +HP.  Your resisting every 100 damage = 10 points taken, every extra tick is like 1-5 damage.  Move that unbreakable to Consume and get +7.5% recharge out of 6 slots of Mocking Beratement.

In Burn change the Eradication proc to Gladiators -resist, it goes off a lot based on the recharge of Burn.  Should use Armageddon set in Burn, get an extra +10 recharge as well and shave off .3 seconds on burn.

4 slotted weave is a waste, put one into Maneuvers and use 3 slots.  But yeah, its really tiny unless you +5 enhance boost it and then again its tiny. 😑

Gaussian +BU is wasted in Tactics, unreliable and should be in BU itself.  Unless your AFK, then it wouldn't really matter.

Health - 2 Numina's is a waste, +regen is redundant unless its AFK and if you do build up enough regen even +15-18 hp a second is enough with Burn on autofire; at that point is just DPS tanking and innate regen; my farmers don't really need it unless the tohit rolls go bad through the defense.

Stamina - the endurance enhancement is useless, .2 more recovery and you are barely over 2/3s of that unless you got sprint running.  My SM/Fire can run nearly every toggle but tough, sprint/athletics is Energizer bunny fast.  Turning of Plasma Shield saves you endurance as well, Fire Shield + Temperature protection puts you at 90% resist cap alone.

The extra procs in Quills/Blazing Aura has a tiny return on investment, when I fuxxored and change the set in Burn to Armageddon lost the +fire bonus.  Move the 2 extra procs to plasma shield and get the same +def from Aegis with 5 slots.

  • Thanks 1

I'm thinking about going back to Spine Burst instead of Discharge. More Damage and all around my toon.

I already have the 75 % Chance for -res in interface (not the dot - my bad). More -res will not stack to that afaik.

This 4th slot is just about not knowing where to put it elsewhere. 😛

There are 5 LOTG +7,5% recharge in that build, so the 6th slot in consume will not count because of the rule of five. Or is my information wrong?

They are both not so good. 😞 But some more accuracy looks more alluring to me with all those +4 bosses that want to be hit. But in both ways it won't really matter.

I am mostly afk farming, so the Gaussian is better in tactics.  And the +reg is not to underestimate while afk farming. Before she had some more +reg, she was sometimes faceplanted. 😮

yes, Stamina is not very useful, but i don't see a good alternative for this slot. Mid's is telling me, Fire Shield + Temperature protection alone are only at 85%.

I really appreciate your ideas and i'm going to play with those recommendations in Mid's, to see, what's coming up with that. 🙂

Sorry about my bad english! I left school a looooong time ago. 😉

LOTG is like a proc, kind of like +END proc in performance shifter.  They stack to 5, then another 5 of any 7.5% as IO bonuses.

I take tactics over assault, piddle damage bonus you can get from a red.

Add the fire resist in IO bonuses, winters alone add +30 resist but its unneeded.

I had 2 Spines farmers, 1 SS, and a Rad Melee.  Just couldn't click with them.  Made a Psi Melee brute, its not bad but not as good.  And my fave is Savage melee, +5 boosted for lulz and get people saying how fast I kill compared to them. And people running Tanker versions of brutes, they lag behind wandering off while people are with them....I ❤️ Savage 4 Life!

Good to know. 🙂

I would never bother with assault on a brute. 😮

One of my next projects will be a savage brute. Or maybe a tanker?
