Bio/Spines Tanker build help request

Sorry if something like this is elsewhere but I couldn't find it easily.  I have a Bio/Spines Tanker that is getting close to level.50 and was hoping to get some advice or a guide to follow for a generally capable build for it with a moderate budget in mind(preferably not more than 100-150 million INF at the upper end).  I'm new to tankers and not sure how best to distribute my slots and all.  Also, I consider full on travel powers pretty low on priority, and would like to keep energy mastery for the To Hit/Perception toggle and Physical Perfection passive.  No sorcery pool power, though I'm open to the idea of either willpower or experimentation, if people think it's good to go into either.

Hopefully these will load for you. I quickly threw this together. I tried not to use any purples (except for the Tanker ATOs) , and tried to keep cost down. The build does have a few expensive IOs, but should still be within reach of your budget.

 This gives you capped Fire/Cold/Energy/N. Energy defenses while in OFFENSIVE mode. Ablative is 2 seconds off of Perma. Your BASE regen is 44.38 HP/Sec. With Ablative active, it jumps to 59.88 HP/Sec. With Ablative,DNS Siphon, and Parastic, it jumps to 71.42 HP/Sec ( only hitting one target).

 I tried to do a mix of everything for your bonuses.....HP, regen, damage, defense, etc etc. On my Bio/Rad, I focused on +HP, + Regen, and +Def. It really all depends on what you want to focus on as far as set bonuses.

 

 I will say Bio can be an absolute BEAST. I've jumped into a mob, hit Ablative, Parasitic, and DNA Siphon, and my regen has hit for 225 HP/Sec. Tack on being in OFFENSIVE mode , AND Capped Fire/Cold/Energy/N. Energy defenses with decent S/L Resists....and well....it's pretty damn hard to die with those numbers. Bio doesn't have any Defense Debuff Resistance, so look into Incarnate Powers to potentially fill in that hole. I stay in Offensive mode about 98% of the time. The other 2% I'm in Defensive because I'm trying something new/pushing myself to the limits/or doing something totally stupid.

   Bio/Spines *should* be a fun tank that pumps out pretty good damage. Two damage toggles really adds up the damage output. I did not pick up taunt in this build. Your 2 damage toggles, coupled with attacking, should be able to hold aggro. There are some players out there that will try to crucify you for not taking Taunt. As fast paced as the game has become, Mobs are destroyed before you really have to worry about Taunting everything. You'll be fine without Taunt.

Fantastic build, Xandyr, but SMoT, alone, will be 100-150M, so I don't think that's the OP's intent. 

 

Unless you're willing to spend *at least* 400-500M, you're going to to be limited to getting the really impactful (usually unique) IOs and filling your build with basic IOs.  The GREAT news is you can turn 150M into 400M, pretty easily and quickly, using the Auction House strategies, listed in-depth, in the general discussion area of the forum.

heh yeah I did notice things are going to be more expensive than I thought, especially when I decided to just get the attuned enhancements.  It's fine though, I'll just slowly chip away at filling my second build with this list, with a single change for personal preference reasons.  And..while I understand one can make tons of INF off the AH strats, I am sadly one of the people who just lacks the mindset and patience to really make it work

Just read @Yomo's  thread about his "Journey to $1B".  Hilarious and motivating.  I was in your shoes and now I have a billion or two, scattered across about 5 toons.  Easier than you think 🤑

Unless you're willing to spend *at least* 400-500M, you're going to to be limited to getting the really impactful (usually unique) IOs and filling your build with basic IOs.  The GREAT news is you can turn 150M into 400M, pretty easily and quickly, using the Auction House strategies, listed in-depth, in the general discussion area of the forum.

 

 Appreciate it @PLVRIZR . I tried to stay cheap, but man.,...those ATOs are so nice.

You mean the Superior Might of the Tanker? They should be 1 Catalyst + 8-9 million apiece for the regular ones.  Cats tend to drop over your lifetime anyway (or use merits to create them) so 40-45 million + 5-6 Catalysts for that set. Winters and Purples are the expensive sets (25-30 apiece) where the cost really rockets. 

 

I think overall the build would end up around ~150-200 mill. Here's mine, there's a Purple, but get one from Market Crash the first time you do it.

Of course. That's one of the things they're for. It's part of my "Just dinged 50" routine (did it yesterday on my Staff/Inv Stalker for example). 

 

I buy the "normal" version, usually between level 10 and 25, slot em in so they're in place all the way to 50 (because they count as Attuned so the enhancement values rise as you do) then once 50 happens raid my Salvages, email any required Catalysts across to the new 50 and Superior them up. 

 

All the IOs in those builds are Attuned BTW, I always slot as I go. There is no Price difference on the AH between regular IOs and the Attuned versions (they essentially go into the AH as "either" so you can sell a crafted dropped version and buy the Attuned version for the same-ish price). This is one reason using Converters to convert level 31 Travel IOs and then sell the good results in the AH works so nicely (because someone can buy them as Attuned or level 50 or whatever they want). 

 

Winter IOs work the same way, but even the "basic" versions are expensive (18-24 million apiece I think). So few chars of mine slot Winters (my Fire/Claws Tank has them as does my DP/Kin Corruptor but that's about it). Best time to by Winters is in the Winter Event because they drop from 25 million per pack on the AH to 10 million and the market price for the enhancements follows too (for a few weeks).
