WitchofDread Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 So this is a slightly different take on my illusion build. I have read around that a few people have taken mace mastery for Poisonous ray so i thought i would give it a go. I put the force feedback: chance for rech proc in phantasm but im not sure if it will proc or how it would even work. Would it effect me or just the pet?? I went with the Tarantula over Disruptor Blast as the dmg from blast is so low compared to other ancillary aoe powers. Plus the tarantula is perma so why not. I dropped off a lot of the res and went full def: 49.6% S/L 50.74% energy 45.52% ranged then everything else is 30.52% End shouldnt be an issue really with soul absorption. Any critques? Carnifax Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 (edited) Forced feedback in Phanty is a waste. It'll trigger once when you summon him. It can also trigger on him but all pets are coded to ignore Recharge buffs (cos they make the AI cray-cray). I usually go the 4 pet intensive recharge, overwhelming dam/kb2kd and Explosive Strike proc (all his attacks can proc it so it's worthwhile imo). Disruptor Blast does crap damage. Until you forget about set-slotting it and proc it up instead (including a forced feedback). Don't forget a Sudden Impact kb2kd too though. That said nothing wrong with the tarantula either, nice to have more pets, it takes a useful set and since you'll be going for lots of recharge their uptime should be decent and Fade will help keep them alive. WitchofDread Posted September 27, 2021 Author Posted September 27, 2021 ah perfect. I wasnt totally sure how it would work so that is easier. Overwhelming kb>kd it is! Initially i was going for psi or soul to cap on the s/l res along with ranged def but i think poisonous ray offers more benefit overall.

Forced Feedback works wonders on Storm, in Tornado & Lightning Storm. The reason being you drop those a lot and you drop those in combat. So the little spurts of 100% recharge for 5 seconds every time you summon one are decent there. Phanty is a summon once (generally when you log in) so it goes to waste. I think overall you're right in terms of Taranula > Disruptor. I'm tempted to spec it in instead myself. WitchofDread Posted September 27, 2021 Author Posted September 27, 2021 Yeah i have a storm/dark def and it works wonders in Tornado & Lightning Storm. The Tarantula looks to have decent attacks: https://cod.uberguy.net/html/entity.html?entity=pets_patron_powers_toxic_tarantula 3 single target, an aoe, a cone, not bad. The only part i am unsure about it that it says Your access to this Tarantula is very limited. You can only summon it once every 15 minutes and it will leave after 4 minutes, or if you exit a zone or mission If that is the case then it would only be brought out for bosses, AV's, and GM's
Carnifax Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 All the Epic pets are 15 min base recharge, 4 min duration. However you can easily close that gap with recharge bonuses, slotting etc. On my Time/Sonic defender for example the Widow epic has a couple of seconds downtime (depends on how closely I trigger Chrono Shift when it recharges). You look to be just inside that too (although his damage slotting is a little low, maybe an Overwhelming End/Dam/Recharge might be better in the final slot) so he'll basically be around about perma. Weirdly if you get to the point of it recharging quicker than the duration retriggering it doesn't replace the pet or add a 2nd. It seems to waste it (so wait til he dies) My level 50 builds [Bullitt Time : DP/Kin Corruptor] [Carnifax : Ill/Dark Controller] [Kerriae : Plant/Storm Controller] [Echinoderm : Bio/Spines Tank] [Iron Brew : Mace/Rad Brute] [Snookered : Staff/NRG Brute] [iScream : Ice/Ice Scrapper] [Binman : Savage/Shield Stalker] [Modul-8 : Time/Sonic Defender] [Concussion Blast : Fire/NRG Domi] [Orblivion : Dark/Martial Domi] [Mombie : Necro/Nature MM] [Tempore : Water/Time Blaster] [Thermodynamic Flux : Ice/Fire Blaster] [Carni's Online CombatLog Parser Alpha]
SuperPlyx Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 @Carnifax Curious as to where you think the Overpowering Presence: Energy Font proc would be best used in a Ill/Dark?

It's not something I've done on my Ill/Dark. Only my Grav/TA (because I wanted baby Singys. Ended up plonking it in Poison Gas Arrow because that doesn't need enhancing). It can't go into Pets or Patches, which is a bummer for Ill/Dark. So I guess Spectral Wounds or an Epic blast. If I was being forced to take it in my build probably squeezing it into Disruptor Blast instead of a proc. But I'd prefer the proc (and as noted above I think the Tarantula may be a better pick over Disruptor anyway) Edited September 30, 2021 by Carnifax My level 50 builds [Bullitt Time : DP/Kin Corruptor] [Carnifax : Ill/Dark Controller] [Kerriae : Plant/Storm Controller] [Echinoderm : Bio/Spines Tank] [Iron Brew : Mace/Rad Brute] [Snookered : Staff/NRG Brute] [iScream : Ice/Ice Scrapper] [Binman : Savage/Shield Stalker] [Modul-8 : Time/Sonic Defender] [Concussion Blast : Fire/NRG Domi] [Orblivion : Dark/Martial Domi] [Mombie : Necro/Nature MM] [Tempore : Water/Time Blaster] [Thermodynamic Flux : Ice/Fire Blaster] [Carni's Online CombatLog Parser Alpha]
SuperPlyx Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Unfortunately you can not put ATO enhancements in Epic/Patron pool powers. I currently do not have it slotted, I might could get it in Spectral Wounds like you say. Just trying to decide if it's worth it.

I don't think it really is worth it, at least not in a combo which doesn't have a Stun of its own to layer on top of it. I mean on a Dark controller I could see it being useful in the PBAoE stun. arcane Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 I’m thinking about respecing my Ill/Dark this weekend to be more effective vs AV’s. Gonna probably snag both Poisonous Ray and Enflame because the DPS vs a level 54 AV was pretty pitiful last I checked.
WitchofDread Posted October 1, 2021 Author Posted October 1, 2021 good luck trying to fit enflame in!
SuperPlyx Posted October 1, 2021 Posted October 1, 2021 Hmm, Shadow Fall takes Resist sets so could drop Kick, Tough and Weave. But depending on your slotting could take a defense loss of up to 10%

Without Ageless, I’d probably be hurting for more of your recharge bonuses I see above - think I’m only at 62.5% in bonuses. Not one full purple set of 5-6 in this one! All that said, I’m definitely already enjoying it more than the last, set-heavier build I had. Edited October 2, 2021 by arcane
