Rudra Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 (edited) I understand that the skin option and the costume options are not overlapped to prevent people from playing naked characters, but it is phenomenally annoying that skin tails and wings are not allowed to use the skin palette. Even using inhuman skin colors cannot be matched unless you use black. Can wings and tails be allowed to use the skin palette? Maybe just throw a button on those two menus to toggle between color palettes? Or include a skin option on the obviously flesh wings and tails? kwsapphire Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 (edited) FWIW, I find that at least one version of every skin color can be matched to something on the main color palette. That is, one of the reds, one of the greens, one of the blues, etc. can be matched. It's just that you can only pick that ONE shade of that color if you expect to be able to match the wings & tails to it. Of course I would definitely still LOVE for the body-parts in the costume creator to optionally be able to use the skin color palette. Would be AMAZING if that could be made to work! Note that I've not only matched the wings and tail here, but also the retro sci-fi glove on the right side. 🙂 It's not exact but it's pretty close! Edited January 17, 2022 by kwsapphire
Rudra Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 Sure, you can get close on the inhuman colors, but they are always 1 or 2 shades off at best. The blue on the wings and tail in the pic get away with being close but not the same because they are separated by the black shorts and the black wing limbs. The arm is still obviously not the same, though you did an admirable job with it, and I would like to point out that the wing limb itself is black in your example rather than a matching blue, otherwise it would stick out like the arm does. This is because with the exception of black, every color on the costume palette is intentionally not the same as the skin palette. Simply close. 1
Rudra Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 The net result is that demons, planars, aliens, or what have you have grafted, gene-modded, cybernetic prosthetic, or other artificial implant/add-on for wings and tails because they are obviously not part of the character's natural body. They are simply as close to the character's body as whomever made the modification to the character could manage. (I've been using the colors with the closest similar color for wings and tails since Live. I get the similar color matching. Finally stumbled on the Suggestion board, because I avoided the forums like plague forever, and finally decided to make the ask. Not trying to disparage your response.) 1
kwsapphire Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 I didn't at all feel disapaged. 🙂 Not sure there's any way to match costume part colors with skin colors even with the same palette, because each costume piece applies the colors differently. Like how you can have a black top that doesn't blend with some black gloves. So even if they let us apply skin color palette to costume pieces, that doesn't mean they'd automatically actually match the skin. I still absolutely support this request, if it can be done, it would be great to have!
Zepp Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 There have always been issues with the limited color palettes that are available, especially when trying to match colors on items with different color adjustments. Sometimes I want FFE5B4 but the closest I can get is F3EEAF... This is really annoying, but limitation is liberation. The limited color palettes with all their quirks make us as players find creative workarounds to make some quite interesting effects. I mean, I support updating the color palettes, but until then just think "Limitation is Liberation" and let your creativity find something magnificent. 1 Archetype Concept Compilation -- Powerset Concept Compilations: Assault Melee -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Great Archetype Concept Battle: Final Round -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archetype Proposal Amalgamation
Mr. Apocalypse Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 I would like to see the color options like are on the Thunderspy private server, full pallet control of everything, with sliders for RGB etc. it can be done, just a mater of resources and implementation from the dev team The thunderspy server even has auras for individual body parts, asymmetrical gloves/boots, additional details can be overlapped on face/ chest arms, etc. and also the addition of using NPC costume parts as well. 1
