Build help with EM/Inv Brute

I am trying to figure out why my brute, while softcapped to S/L, capped to S/L resists, and hits like a mule, is bleeding endurance. I have an EM/Inv tank without these issues, but he's built around Kinetic Combat sets. Any ideas?

I am away from my comp that has mids.  But I will say that i saw at least six powers slotted with unbreakable guard.  There is a “rule of 5” whereas any set bonus can only be used 5 times (even from different sets!)

 

You may want to look up Hyperstrike’s write ups on Invulnerability Armor.  It is the gold standard for Invul in my opinion.  Seriously the bedrock of many bulletproof builds

If you are regularly using Static Discharge, Ball Lightning, and Total Focus back-to-back then you are sucking down approximately 45 End with a single use of those three powers. You're feeling, hard, the trade-off of proc'ing out Total Focus. Personally, it does enough damage on it's own to justify not proc'ing it out and slotting it with a set to get some End Reduction in there. Then add in the End 'crash' from Hasten and, when timing isn't in your favor, you're losing, literally, more than half your Endurance within just a few seconds.

 

I would strongly suggest re-thinking the build approach in terms of:

  • Removing procs from Total Focus and putting a 'proper' set in with End Redux.
  • Respec into Energy Mastery for Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection.

Your Recovery jumps to 3.28/s doing the Mu-to-Mastery swap without putting anything in those empty slots. A quick glance says that filling those now freed up slots may well bring your S/L Res back to where they were with Mu powers.

Thank you all so much--I'm going to first try out changing the build but keeping Mu, as it is part of the character's concept. If that doesn't work, I'll drop it for Energy Mastery. I will also post my changed builds and how they are performing.

As you've noted, your build is rather piggy on End.
Also, you have NOT grabbed your Accolades yet.
You also haven't looked into an Alpha.  Suggesting Cardiac.
Also, as noted, you've exceeded Rule of 5 on your Resist sets.
This looks like a derivative of my Invuln framework.
There's several reasons why all three of the passive "Resist X" powers use Reactive Armor.
A: Passive, so they suck no end.  So you can load up on maximum set Resist without worrying about resting consumption.
B: Shores up your Defenses.

With a slight rework.

Hello Capella,

 

I looked at the builds posted. Agreed with the previous comments about end consumption. Also, turn the yellow dot on kick off, it skews your recharge. I would not slot kick with anything, the FF feedback proc won't proc often and it a waste of 2mil inf in that slot.

 

S/L and energy damage are pretty common endgame so I looked at shoring those defenses up. Even though fire/cold defense is easy to get via winter IO sets, they are not as common and you'll be ok not having high defense against those types for the majority of content.

 

Builds also tend to suffer offensively when you build very defensively. Damage isn't really the issue here, it's accuracy against higher cons. You can simulate your to-hit against +4s by going to options -> configuration -> Exemping & Base Values and setting the base to hit to 39. Then look at the accuracy field for your bread and butter powers to see if it's 95% or higher, as 95% represents your maximum chance to hit a +4 mob. For this reason every one of my builds tend to slot a kismet +acc and a lot take tactics if they are not using a lot of purple sets. There are other alternatives as well, LOTG gives a good 9% ACC bonus at 4 slots and I've often resorted to that on my defense armor builds that lean heavily into procs.

 

Typical invul builds shoot for some sort of softcap with 1 foe in invincibility and that's usually good enough. Of all the attacks from energy melee, Energy transfer is the best candidate to proc because it doesn't cost end, that gives you a little more kick into an otherwise very defensive build.

 

This is my draft of the build. Softcap to S/L/E/N with 1 foe in invinciblity, enough acc to hit +4s for most ST powers. The AoEs aren't going to be spammed against one target, but with 3-4+ foes in invincibility they will also have 95%+ chance to hit.
