I have looked for a SS/INV Brute build but not finding any.  I am finding lots for a tanker builds,  but none for a Brute.  Am I just over looking it? Lol  if anyone has a really good one could you please share?

Try this one out - I have a similar build I based this one off of that was Energy/Invul and it has no difficulty navigating any content in the game - even tanking it as a Brute  🙂  I normally run with assault - but if you want added durability you could always switch your hybrid to Melee core for encounters that might dictate it, but for the most part this build has been unkillable against everything I have ran it against.

Hope this helps!

Well... erhmmm...   I keed I keed

I was thinking more along the lines of - ANY praetorian content.  That will eat that builds lunch.  Lots of Psi in that content.

also

Banished Pantheon, Rikti, Arachnos, Longbow, Vanguard - maybe more - that is all I could think of right now.  That's a mighty big hole for late game content especially.

Trying to fill Invul Psi Hole is doable....and counterproductive.  there are times to hang back and play conservative, even on a Brute.  For the REST of the game.  the thing is a steamroller.

I don't know why you would feel the need to plug every hole on a Brute anyway. Enjoy the extra damage but don't sacrifice it trying to reach Tanker numbers of survival, role a Tanker if you want that. Brutes are more than capable without chasing those numbers especially with a team and buffs.

On the build with the hole - you can patch that without sacrificing either damage and also any noticeable mitigation from other areas - so all things being equal why wouldn't you patch it at that point?

But it is weak enough against toxic and psi to where you would notice that fairly fast in a rough situation involving either of those types.

I get it if you are selling out to dmg - but that build isn't set up that way in the first place.

Not really counterproductive - see the post above - it is actually fairly easy to achieve and no severe sacrifice needs to be made to achieve it.

ok.

I just don't like trying to build a Brute too tanky and losing damage to the point it is not much better than my Tankers that are built for more damage because they are really tanky anyway.

I see the Brute as middle ground between Scrapper and Tanker and play them that way. I can tank but not as good as a Tanker and dps but not as good as a scrapper. Building them too far one way and you may as well just pick one of the other AT's.

I am happy to accept a few weaknesses as team buffs will help with that and it makes it more fun imo. If i am soloing i will not pick the content i am weak against usually.

I am not picking at your build in particular i have not really looked at it but it is just my view that some Brutes build for survival too much then complain that Tankers who build for dps are better.

But it is off topic so ill stop here.

Infinitum's posted build's Knockout Blow hits for 864.8 damage. It does not look like he's given up damage at all.

And double raged is even more - you could also add assault and maneuvers very easily to my build if you wanted either of those - but i do not believe they are necessary - i almost always pick assault core with heavy hitters like brutes scrappers and stalkers - and have melee core as a backup if extra tankiness is needed.

Best of all you can approach psi and toxic just like you would everything else.

The. Build I posted is insanely powerful,….with a Psi Hole.  Fixed with orange inspirations.  It is a very small % of the game to alter your whole build for.

But the reality is its not a dramatic alteration to achieve it - and even after the tradeoffs it is its still nigh unkillable to the rest but adds psi and toxic to the list of honey badger points on the build.

And the second reality is endgame there is a lot of psi and toxic - i listed it.  You can avoid it - or pop oranges -  but with my build you can keep on sailing and laugh off anything that crosses your path.

Both builds are insanely powerful - one has a weakness - one does not.

But to each there own.

There is more to doing damage than one number posted. Personally i wouldn't use either of those builds but my goals are different. Of the 2, infinitums is better though.

Yeah these builds arent built for bruting as much as tanking - i tend to bring a scrapper or stalker if i need to do insane damage - not that a brute cant - its just i don't build them that way when the mitigation trends towards tanking.

I should have asked this earlier - out of curiosity - what would your preferred build for this look like?  I am genuinely curious how the +dmg crew looks at building a brute like this.

I want to review a build to see how i would do playing a build like that also - because it is a running debate/joke among those i play this game with that i cant break free from playing everything like a tanker.  Haha

I have 54 vet levels on mine.  Been parked almost a year and a half.  Still enhanced.  Moved on due to 1) Vampire 2) rage Crash.  so.... over 100 vet levels on a Dark/Dark now.  No holes.  Defenses are intricate non defense layered defenses though

I gotcha - like I said it is a great build - but a hole like that - there is no other way to slice it - that type of damage if you come across it will murder that build.

Agree with you on the Dark/Dark 100%  Mine is one of my favorites also.

yeah, i have a Dark/Invul Brute with a very similar build and had my clock cleaned....fast....by a Psi AV i did not realize was in a room.  2 shotted even after i hit dull pain and ate a purp and orange

Well i would dump Punch.

I would dump focused accuracy as SS does not have a problem hitting things with rage.

I would take gloom and procced dark obliteration for more single target and mob clearing.

A little more endurance gain especially if PP was dropped.

Add a couple more LotG and recharge.

Add some damage and FF procs.

You are chasing a lot of psi resists which is ok if you want that build but i would rather just clear faster and deal with the holes in various other ways like teaming or just taking the mob out before they did me or use a temp/barrier power if really needed. I don't see the need to plug every hole unless you want to full tank but then i would suggest going a Tanker. I would not be scared to use inspirations to cover weakness. For how often you would need to use insps you could easily horde the right ones.

You have some nice Tanking numbers but my Tanker will still be more survivable and probably do more dps. The brute can dps just as much as it can tank. I have done under 1.30 on a EM/Bio Brute and my SS/Bio Brute, built to do content and not just pylons does it in 1.45. If it's dead/arrested then it isn't dong me any more damage, just need to find the happy spot between dps and survival but remember this game is about teaming really.
