NighthawkX Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I got a new laptop a month back, but only got one with an integrated chip since I didn't know CITY OF FUCKING HEROES WAS COMING BACK! I got my beefy desktop to play on, but it doesnt seem to play nice with the integrated chip. Shouldn't this be more than enough for such an old game these days? Any tips to optimize? i7 8550u with Intel 620
Obduran Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Look into your bios, you may be able to allocate more memory to the graphics. make sure you have the most updated intel drivers, lots of laptops do not. an ssd makes games much faster and if you use one as your caching drive can also help clear bottlenecks on your gpu.
WanderingAries Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 For a frame of reference: During the Sunset period I "tested" my i7's APU to see just how much it could do. Now I don't think I was getting Ultra (with everything else shut down), but I was getting good enough to play without really stressing it out. I managed to get something like 7 concurrent instances of the game running comfortably (at <10FPS :p) before I ran out of RAM. Desktop (so it let me allocate sys RAM) Win7 x64 16Gb DDR3 i7 3770k (something between 512Mb-1.5Gb allocated to the APU) Since you have a more modern APU, then you should handle one instance just fine, but I'd turn off any non-essential apps from the tray. NighthawkX Posted April 28, 2019 Author Posted April 28, 2019 Weird, I have the graphics cranked down and it's still running crappy in AP. Can't find any advanced settings in my BIOS, hopefully the driver updates do it.

As for AP...the engine is still what it was. The huge number of folks there are gonna cause lag simply because the engine has issues handling it. It's like a bulldozer pulling equipment with a car towing dolly. Regardlessof how hard the dozer (vid card) can pull the tow dolly can only carry so much before it bogs down.
