Reningrendir
I'd love to see the server have support characters that are not limited to range as their secondary power. Like how dominators work with their control primary and melee secondary just with support powers and a melee focus like scrappers melee without the crit chance for example. I feel like that would open up a lot of new character ideas. Edited October 6, 2022 by Reningrendir
Ravenwulfe
I was thinking something like this, support primary and using maybe manipulation for their secondary's.

Whereas I want an archetype with Armour/Support, so I can make a Radiation/poison character, or maybe Bio/poison.
biostem
I think you'd need to swap-in a status protection power and perhaps an armor toggle or 2 somewhere, or give the AT some inherent that provides both. Alternatively, what if the support powers were allowed to benefit the caster as well, as the AT's schtick - this would solve a whole host of issues for such a character. Rebirth has the Guardian which has Dominator's Assault sets in primary and an amalgamation of armour sets and support sets. Storm and Electric Armour get rolled into one set, Time and Super Reflexes.

Yaliw
I'm always up for new archetypes but why not just let defenders and corruptors just have melee sets? I guess they would be super fragile?

There's no precedent for that type of powerset proliferation, and such a character would really need some additional tools in order to stand a chance while in melee range. Sure, *some* defender or corruptor builds can do that now, but we'd need something broader, which would work for every powerset combination... Ravenwulfe
I think they could call this archetype a Warden or something, using Manipulation powers as their secondary. I don't think they would need armor or anything they would need a few controls and powers that give them, as their ability to use heals and other support powers will be their cushion. Having a higher health pool would e a good offset though.

Yes, I omitted your last comment about "heals and other support powers", but you did mention them LAST. No, what I think is needed here is a support primary, and melee secondary, with those support powers being able to directly benefit the caster - THAT could be their special ability, and I think it'd work very well... Dominators can't heal manipulation has some control in it (aka the blaster secondary set) and the primary set would be the healing set. So no, that's not what I described. Reningrendir
Gents we are getting off topic, I proposed a class with support primary and melee secondary. I think that would open up a lot of possibilities like making empathy more viable with their small aura abilities. All the friendlies that actually need regen or heals would already be in the radius.
