Fire stalkers - so hot right now

Is it hard to sneak around with a giant flaming sword?

Not if you melt their eyes first...

 

However you reconcile being sneaking with fire melee, I suggest giving it a try. The improvements are tangible and I believe stalkers have the best version of fire melee giving up incinerate for AS.

 

Cremate is ample control for bosses and Greater firesword triggering achilies makes single targets drop very rapidly. Even faster in game than on paper as fire damage is rarely resisted. It isn't an aoe powerhouse, but that isn't really what stalkers specialize in.

I personally cannot stand that the animation of fiery melee assassins strike is blazing bolt. Will not touch the set on stalkers until AS gets an alternate animation, unfortunately.

Ya it's not my favorite AS animation and it is also one of the slower "fast" AS's.

I started a fire/fire stalker recently.  Level 40 so far.  The AOE isn't too bad for a stalker.  I'm OK with the AS, but I play several fire blasters, so more used to that.

I actually like the AS animation. I visualize it as a close range balefire like from WoT.

 

However I'm all for alternatives so long as they don't remove as well.

 

Also, leveling a fire/fire stalker now and yes, it "feels" good so far!

Ya I paired it up with /stone. I think stone armor is pretty strong for stalkers (maybe for everyone), but mostly I find that brimstone adds the right amount of fire dot damage to really flesh out the build. As good as fire melee is now the fire dot is a bit underwhelming, but brimstone gives you lots of satisfying dot, plus it crits.

I don't have an FM Stalker but usually slot the ATO2 proc in an AoE attack. Just so it will get used early in a mission. Typically on the first spawn encountered. If not an AoE, slot it in the weakest power in your attack chain.

I tend to slot the %hide into my AS just so a followup Greater Followup Sword often crits as well.

The Asssasin's Mark can go anywhere since the proc can fire on any attack.  It's currently in Fire Sword for me with the rest of the set for extra recharge everywhere.
