Go0gleplex Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 subterranean satellite dishes? 😉 Okay...I can see how this 'could' be made to work logically and per engineering & telecom principles. Treat the satellite emplacements like kaiju in a way where they are set up in silos...rise and deploy when the mission arc gets tripped or as part of a TF. Have to destroy them fast before the 5th or whomever can hack the Particle Beam sats in orbit to rain fiery doom upon Zone X or call in Shivans/Rikti invaders etc. 1

That is why we call it GRANDVILLE! 1
LegionAlpha Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 A cyberpunk 2077 type city. Augmented cyber humans and critters, drugs, excessive crime that even Recluse barely can contain, roving gangs that are not Outcast, hellions, skulls or any generic villain group we have fought in America and now Rogue isles. A Night City like place ran by someone other than Dr. Aeon, with tall buildings and dense city areas with everyone doing something different. From Vendors to tech wizards( Hackers), major corporations seeking to undermine Recluse and claim the island for themselves. 1
Glacier Peak Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) I think red side is unique in that it's story and zones are all well paced and placed respectively. Start out in the gutters of Mercy Island, expand your name recognition and get through some really great story arcs in Port Oakes. Jump to the other side of the island to Cap Au Diable for your first Strike Force and giant monster. Sharkhead will improve upon that formula and introduce unique enemy groups while still enforcing the idea that you're moving up in the world. St. Martial and Nerva, amazing you're already defeating real Heroes by yourself and once you get to Grandville's immaculate tapestry of story telling you realize it's all just a wash and nobody can touch you as you sit atop the world and grin. Edit: Oh there's a question to answer! I vote moonbase! Because I'm already the ruler of the Earth, now my Villain needs another celestial body to control. Scarlet Shocker Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) Arachnos have some serious funding (to coin a phrase.) While we see some grandiose vanity projects in production - most notably the Web factory in MsLibTF - we don't seem to yet have divined where most of their command and control takes place. Nor do we know where they manufacture their flyers and other Arachnos equipment. It seems to be somewhat specialised to be purchased elsewhere and shipped in (but hold that thought.) A new zone could be further out from Paragon, and could be the main port area and manufactory for Arachnos kit. It would need to be within a cave to prevent Longbow simply bombing it out of existence (because let's face it, they really are that reckless) and it might also have a Vanguard base to provide some cover of "neutrality". It would need docks, at least one dry dock (for fixing all those submarines etc) part storage and assembly lines. In consequence it would have to have a related business centre - probably linked to the main business hub in Cap au Diable (another excuse to spruce up parts of that zone) with plenty of civilians and perhaps an exclusive tourist area for the super-rich to provide an element of legitimate cover. There would also be storage for vehicles (especially flyers which seem to be relatively cheap to make given their surprising fragility.) There may also be one of the last remaining profitable guano mining operations going on. It would provide a useful cover in terms of economic activity and gives a reason for high density shipping. (This provides the perfect environment for a new unique GM (which most likely uses poison with good effect) for repeatable hunts - a la Adamastor/Babbage et al. Most of the activity, action and missions would take place underground - this game does do the James Bond villain underground lair pretty well - and who wouldn't love to see Lord Recluse's private giant undersea aquarium and his unique laboratory complex where he experiments on various forms of crustaceans and arachnids? Given the access to deep water, since it is on the edge of the continental shelf it would be highly likely to have an underwater research station. Obviously Recluse accesses this complex via his secret personal underground monorail connecting him directly to Grandville tower; a potential point of access for heroes in the accompanying missions and TFs. I imagine there would also be missile silos for defence and transportation to other secret areas which Recluse and his Lieutenants have access to that neither Longbow or Hero Corps are yet cognisant of. Note that due to the highly repetitive nature of assembly line work it is highly likely that adapted Praetorian Clockwork would be one of the main villain mobs found in the manufacturing facilities and I would expect to see an entirely new - as yet undiscovered - Arachnos division of Arbiters and personnel. It may also be that Recluse has elevated one of his Chosen Ones to be the overall head of this facility - perhaps causing a degree of friction with his existing four lieutenants. References include Dr No, You Only Live Twice and of course Tracy Island. The funding, not the tech, though, yes, that is important, too, and you make good suggestions. We've not really seen cyber-crime in the game at these levels, but one would think there'd be a legion of hackers working for Arachnos to capture funding for it, and/or divert resources and materials to the islands to be used. That could lead to several new stories, both blue and red of breaking the back of Arachnos' funding and logistics: blue to shut down chunks of it, red to capture and exploit back to Arachnos those captured chunks (at high interest or increased prominence/power). 1
