Advice sought for water/storm Corruptor

So I rolled up a new water/storm corruptor, and am looking for general advice on how to play them effectively.  I'm a little unclear on if powers like steamy mist or hurricane are powers you leave on all the time, whether there are any skippable powers, and which powers become your mainstays.  Thanks for reading!

Steamy mist stays on all the time unless there's an NPC escort. Hurricane is situationally used to corral NPCs into a corner or some other geometry and then let them bathe in it's debuff while raining on their parade.

You'll want to build to be sturdy enough what the content you're looking for, and then pump as much recharge as you can, as you want 3 lightning storms and absolute chaos.

Regarding Storm you could skip: Gale, Snow Storm, Hurricane and Thunderclap. Storm Summoning is end heavy and 3 of the mentioned powers will not affect greatly your overall defenses/attacks. Gale is a minor Knockback, Snow Storm is an expensive end toggle you will not able to afford and provides just slows on target (you have Freezing Rain for that). Hurricane is other expensive end toggle that will keep foes away from melee range and will apply -to hit. Thunderclap is just a disorient.

With this said i think you will find better choices chosing patron/epic powers that can give you more dps or defenses. In my case i got my /Storm with Soul Mastery where i take the shield + power boost + Fortunata Pet and Sould Drain.

Setamy Mist is a good power for slot LoTG +rech. O2 Boost can be slotted with 6 Numinas for ranged +def  bonus or any heals set for +rech bonus . Freezing Rain can be slotted with Achiles Heel unique. Tornado is a power you want to slot with Force Feedback +rech and Knockback to Knockdown IO.

And this.... thats the final goal.

In general what i did with my /Storm is aim for +ranged def softcap then +rech and get my endurance "fixed" with Agility/Ageless incarnate.

I'm in the opposite school of thought in that Gale is a 2 slot wonder power using a kb2kd and a FF proc. O2 boost on an AT that doesn't have pets kind of a waste. Storm summoning is a a debuff/damage set, and a single target heal/mez is counter to the sets strengths.

Gale has a 80° arc with a 50-foot depth which when used effectively is a huge mitigation tool that triggers force feedback quite frequently.

Snowstorm is fairly end intensive I'll agree that its cost add to a fairly end intense build. I'll usually take it as it does have decent utility but often leave it as a 1 slot wonder.towards the end of a build when I have tools for sustainability.

Hurricane is a set defining power and an absolutely huge debuff to tohit and range. Yes it does require planning to use it effectively as it will move mobs. People worry about melee, but hurricane is also a solo player's melee mitigation as it will force targets out of melee range and protect you from heavy hitting melee attacks.

Thunderclap can often be skipped in most builds as you have a lot of tools to work with but you can stack it on a group and use geyser to reliably disorient bosses and the occasional EB/AV.

Additionally since the previous poster mentioned soul, I would strongly recommend dark mastery as soul drain has a 120 second base recharge on it while on soul mastery it has a 240 base recharge. Since you'll be building for a significant amount of recharge, if you go for dark mastery it's possible to build a for perma soul drain. Dark Consumption can help with endurance, but I would use IOs, accolades, and maybe incarnates to deal with endurance. Oppressive Gloom is a mag 2 stun, so that can stack again with Thunderclap.

Ultimately though it's your toon, you'll build it how you want as we all have different play styles.

The basics (permahasten, 3x LS, soul drain) have been mentioned, so I'll just fill in the missing details and correct some misconceptions.

Hurricane is no longer a set defining power. It was in the days of live, but with the levels of def, rech and damage power creep has given us on Homecoming, it is no longer as central to the build as it once was, even with a KB2KD. Corraling trash in a corner is cool where the terrain permits, but the trade off is that while you're maneuvering to use hurricane you are not blasting, resulting in DPS loss. And you don't usually want to repel the enemies, you want them tightly clustered where your rains and storms and soul drain shred them. It is still useful, but there are also successful stormies that do not take it. I consider it playstyle-dependent.

The set-defining power is freezing rain. It's a knockdown patch, it debuffs res and def, and it can be doublestacked on AV's to really melt them. You can never go far wrong with a quickly recharging freezing rain.

Whether to take soul drain, and which version of it to take, will define your build goals for you. If you take the one from dark mastery which costs 3 power slots, you don't have a lot of room to play with things like thunderclap. You need to skip almost everything that can be skipped to afford all the powers in that case. You also should consider melee def if you are taking soul drain, and especially if you solo - melee def will help a lot in getting a highly-saturated drain. Well-designed storm corrs can cap 45% to melee + ranged, or 40% to all 3 defenses (using a defense amp to softcap - but note that the amp does not work on anything above 2*), on top of high recharge. I don't post my builds since I consider it unsporting; but there is a nice water/cold build thread on this forum that you should be able to consult for ideas as to how to build; they are both sets with a defense aura and strive for similar levels of def/rech.

From playing my storm/water defender... yes. Yes. Do this. Find an attach set that can take lots of +Recharge procs. Take Hasten, even if you don't normally take Hasten. Take anything that gives you more endurance or endurance recovers - you need it.

Storm has a lot of (fairly) high damage powers for a support set, and once you start double- or triple-stacking lightning storms, you can own the battlefield.
