Captain Fabulous Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) I mentioned this to a few people I used to play with back on live and they looked at me like I had four heads and was speaking Swahili. But I distinctly remember there being a lightning kick animation (ala Chun-Li) on Thunder Kick. It got changed at some point fairly early on in the game. When power animation customization came around I was hoping it was going to be available as an option but wasn't. Does anyone else remember this or do I need more drugs? And if I am remembering things correctly, does anyone know if the animation is still somewhere in the game code, just waiting to be found and resurrected? Or is it gone forever? Captain Fabulous Posted February 1, 2023 Author Posted February 1, 2023 OK, so it wasn't a fever dream. Now we just have to figure out if the code is still out there somewhere. I assume animations are part of the client, not server-side, so do we need to dig up an old copy of the game client (which I'm sure I have somewhere, as I have all the original game boxes)? 1 1
drgantz Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 I remember it. In the early days of CoH, Storm Kick was a fast sequence of kicks. It looked good, but the animation was too long, so they changed it to what it is now. I doubt that the code is in the game now. It might be on a computer owned by one of the original devs or NCSoft, but I doubt that it is in HC's system. Anyway, as I said, the animation was too long. People often complained about that in the early days.

I've been looking for footage of this animation forever! Thanks! Mainly on Excelsior. Find me in game @Spaghetti Betty. If not for the current version of Thunder Kick, if the animation times sync up it would be an incredible alternative for Eagle Claw. 1
TheZag Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 How would someone go about extracting that information from the original discs? Im sure we have more than a few copies across the community.
