Latest Trick Arrow creation - Trick Arrow/Beam Rifle

Recommended Posts

Continuing my love of Trick Arrow. I have created a virtually unkillable flying debuffer.

  • Can inflict 80% -resist on a single target
  • High levels of defense, some resists, and Poison Gas Arrow, so they can take the alpha
  • Plays completely at range
  • All the awesome Trick Arrow debuff

The toon exists and is vet 10. So, this is not a theory build.

TA is a great set. I made a few very interesting TA chars on live.

The base concept of this kind of jars in a way - a bow and a rifle and interchangeable attacks seems weird but it could be a lot of fun to play. I don't know much about BR but your stats are impressive

There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.

Thank you. I used Beam Rifle for several reasons, the all ranged, -resist, lighting oil slick, and the AOE is decent. Cutting Beam when flying hits quite a few targets.

Yup.  I was very jazzed at the set being tackled after something like an 8 year wait.  I was all over the alpha/beta when I had time and gave as much feedback as I could.  Turned out great.  I think the only thing I still wanted was for EMP to have a lower cooldown - not much, just some.  Easily one of the most fun debuff sets in the entire game now period.

Interesting. It sounds like fun - glad it works well for you.

On live I had a Fire/TA controller that was super fun.

I might have to recreate something similar.

I have a Defender, Voice of Scythia - TA/Sonic that I just rolled. Got on a high level team at level 8 and felt like I was still pulling my weight when exemped down and only a couple of powers. Was a lot of fun and quite survivable if I don't aggro mobs

Flash arrow is invaluable at low levels as no one has any defense. Glue is super useful keep mobs off the very squishy chars.

Trick arrow starts out very strong. One of the many reasons I love it.

I read elsewhere that with the right combination of powers & procs Flash Arrow gives you near stalker levels of invis. I think (working from memory) that Flash Arrow, Stealth (PP) and a Stealth proc make you all but undetectable in the right situation.

I don't fully comprehend how stealth works but I do think it offers some amazing mitigation

You are in for a treat.

I'm having a great time with this one! It's absolutely amazing. It's not a killing machine per se, but it is survivable, has massive debuffs and is a lot of fun to play. I've not yet got it quite slotted out but it's a ton of fun even before it's fully finished

Flash Arrow is a huge Perception Debuff (and a none too shabby To Hit debuff 🙄).  A typical Boss has a 54ft perception.  The distance at which one will be detected is (Perception - Stealth).  So a character with no stealth will be seen at 54ft.  Flash Arrow is a 450 ft debuff putting the boss at 54 minus 450 ft perception.  That's not only Stalker good effectively, it's better than Superior Invisibility good as it drops the boss to a negative 396ft perception.

It's important to remember that critters don't follow quite the same rules as players. Once they aggro they remain aware of your exact position until they become "peaceful" (wiki's wording which I would interpret as falling off your aggro list).  That's why once you hit the foes with pretty much any other attack they seem capable of directly attacking you (because they do know exactly where you are regardless of perception/stealth).  Of course at that point the value of FA's to hit debuff comes into play and while they 'see' you they'll do a lot of whiff, whiff, whiffing.

you know, I always wondered how Stealth worked but that's useful info thanks.

I am finding that if I can get a set-piece going on my TA/Sonic she becomes quite tough to take down even solo, and is incredibly rewarding to play.
