Trying something new to the Nth power

I want to make an alt that is uses as muchbad possible that I have never used before. Sentinel is the only AT I haven't never rolled, so that was easy.

Primaries I have never tried are water and beam rifle (never tried staff or Titan weapons but not a option here)

Secondaries I have never tried are bio and ninjutsu

I have never tried the Sorcery power pool

I can't remember what Epic pools I have used in the past except Sould and Fire, but those two are out.

Make me a recommendation! I heard water/ninjutsu is a bit flavor of the month but probably for a reason.

Thematically I like water/bio or beam/ninjutsu

My triform warshade has the combination of up close and PBAOE and ranged attack, so I'm not necessarily looking for that in a sentinel (I think I would prefer to stay more ranged?) but I won't know till I try the AT.

I also always take as many powers as possible as I level, give then a try, use regular IOs and later frankenslot and Respec at least twice on the way to 50. Here I want to try and not Respec once before 50, but instead plan a "growing up" build from 0 to 50 and try to stick to it. I'll likely take that opportunity to try attuned enhancements.

Still trying of other ways I can "something new" into a character. Without Sorcery I may have done no travel power

I'm bug on softcap defense, is there a combo that lends itself well to it?

Any sentinel defense-based secondary can easily soft-cap defense. From playing around in Mids/Pine's, I feel like most of the resist secondaries have to give up a bit too much to softcap. Not that they can't do it, but it feels like it's not worth it to me. That's just theorycrafting, though, haven't actually tried using the resist secondaries here.

All reports are that Bio Armor is probably the best secondary for every class that gets it.

I've asked several times in game and that's the answer I was given multiple times.

I guess it would FoTM for sentinels, I agree there are few of them in game.

I've got a lvl14 water/bio brought up through AP and the Hollows, and while it's not OP I'm having a lot of fun with it although I'm still trying to fully understand how sentinels work.

Stay Water/Bio if you like the look, most of the people in help chat have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to Sentinels.  Most of the time they don't even know the secondaries are different from scrapper/tanker secondaries.  A lot of them will even say stuff like fully built Sentinels can't solo +4/x8 because their defenses are too low....like...Total nonsense things.  Just make a build on test and you can see that's not true.

Regarding Water/Nin, there's basically no mechanical reason to not go SR rather than ninja.  You already get a heal from water, you don't need a second heal in Ninja, and SR has strong defense debuff resist and the master brawler absorb shield, which are going to be generally more useful than the blind and 8% resistance.

Bio is basically the best secondary if you spend a ton of inf, while SR, Fire, and EA are the best if you don't want to do that.  Water is one of the better primaries - it's not gonna be as easy to solo an AV as it would be with Fire, Beam, and maybe psi, but it's got its own strengths.

Should be worth mentioning that Ninjutsu has a better heal than Dehydrate, plus has an Endurance bar refill clicky power, a very nice god mode, and offers extra movement speed and stealth. Plus the resistance passive is good for a global defense IO.

SR is awesome, but depending on what's important for someone, Ninjutsu has a lot to offer as well.
