Remaking my main from Live, fire fire fire

Snakebit

Recommended Posts

Hey all, so I got a little help on the leveling process and hit 36. Couple of questions about powers that weren't in last time I played:

Cauterizing Aura? This has gotta be decent, right?

Burnout...seems to good to be true. Double inferno? Surely not...

Least expensive ways to softcap def? I never tried this on a blaster. Weave, invis and CJ?

Never mind, I don't want to do this and I see from another thread you can get decent defense with slotting.

Hitting the AOE's, leaving out burn, hot feet, fire sword, blazing bolt, flares and rain. Using Blaze and Blast for ST.  I'll be getting char, prolly melt armor, and RotP.  Running Hasten and SS. Maybe Fly, but probably not. Possibly medicine.

Cauterizing Aura: Yes this is very good.  So good that my fire blaster has one slot in auto-stamina, and one slot in Cauterizing Aura, both with a single normal recovery IO, and I never run into endurance problems.  I even removed Consume from my build because I never need it (no Inferno end crash either).

If you check the patch notes for issue 24 (it was in test upon shutdown), all blasters were getting a power in the secondary that boosts recovery and regeneration.  So if you have other blasters look for a similar power in their secondary as well.

Burnout: Give it a try if you want to test it out.  I haven't tried it out, as the recharge is so long that it won't be up often enough to sound appealing to me. There are some endurance drawbacks as well, but with Cauterizing Aura being so good it may be worth testing.

Thanks, I went ahead and leveled up and am trying this. I learned a lot in global today about how different things are now.

I'm fiddling with rain, nuke, consume, burnout, nuke, ball breath combustion FSC rain right now to see how self supporting it is.

I also learned about some procs that are OMG.

Here's the build we discussed today in game.  I hope this helps.  It's not cheap, but oh so good.

I am lvl 40 to re-making my fire/fire/? blaster as well. I went near same as the OP -- no rain,  fire sword, hot feet, nor burn. It's my team AOE dps monster. Mobs are pretty much dead before any of those powers do any real damage.

At level 40, I alternate Inferno with this AOE chain. My AOE attack looks like: build up+aim -> fireball + run next to tank (get FS if avail) -> greater sword circle -> combustion.  Usually by that time only stragglers are left, easily mopped with blaze+flares and fire cage if needed. By the time scrappers find the next live target, I've killed them too.  Slightly exaggerating, but not by much.  Especially when you have support team members.

I think I will be tinkering with the build a bit. I may possibly need a solo build with generic IOs and then bling out my team build.  I am going for max damage with res/def as an afterthought. All my slots and set IO's will be to maximize my AOE attack chain effectiveness and Inferno cd.

Definitely not a build for soloing at low levels. Incredibly squishy. I pack purples for sure. Still susceptible to mez's and kb's until I buy the proper sets. Not so bad, I just pack a few break frees.

Last night I had an 8-man team with 2(!) kins. Inferno was up nearly every mob, and Fulcrum Shift damage bonus often maxed. I had a blast. (Pun intended). There wasn't even a tank to herd -- the controller would debuff and immob, I would do my AOE attack chain, and everything burned to bits.  Definitely gives that "I kill stuffz fast" feeling when you see the damage numbers tick all over the mobs.  The build is probably not optimal but it really is so much fun to play.

And of course I asked, and then was like "duh!", lol. I tend to prefer ranged, but this looks very solid.

Any ideas for swapping into Blazing Bolt and/or other ranged ...? I tend to prefer a more ranged approach. I like what you've done, but I can't use Mid's on my Mac to play around with it.

I've searched for Information on how to make that work, but some of it surpasses my understanding. I'll have to really dig through that and see what I can decipher. Thanks!

I took your build and made several swaps for ranged attacks, so I'll see what I can piece together and go from there. 🙂 I appreciate the insight!
