OverkillEngine Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Specifically the travel power/external speed buff ones. Having to remember to set those on every new character is annoying, and moving those to the options menu also enables us to change our minds on the (maybe group) fly without having to stop what we are doing and take a trip to Pocket D. 1
mistagoat Posted August 9 Posted August 9 (edited) I'm sure most players would agree that'd be awesome but it's come up in the past and been explained that the Gull was the only option the devs had available. Something in the wonky old code prevents it from being in the player options. To be fair though, I heard that second hand here on the forums and not from a dev themselves. My understanding is that, at the time, it would take too long to implement the options via the menus, so it was either cludge something together like we have with Null the Gull, or don't have the options at all... 1
Purrfekshawn Posted August 9 Posted August 9 But l've a Stone Armor tanker - the only toon that has the "Speed Buff Receive" options enabled. Since the toon is moved mainly through teleportation - being able to run @92.5s in combat with max buff doesn't break fights at all (as l just don't use WASD to move), but being able to receive buffs otoh, makes it possible to move through normal space with Kinetics (or something similar) buffs, in addition to the teleportation option if the team composition allows it. 3 To keep this game safe, We have to give it to the world. He said here "instead", not "in addition to character-level enabling/disabling". While l would be OK with the latter (more options will be always great), with exact "INSTEAD" it's gonna be big NO-NO-NO, as my Stone Armor Tanker will be going to be stuck @slower than snail's pace this way (with buffin on all other toons disabled). 1 To keep this game safe, We have to give it to the world. I disagree with your explanation, since it is already an option for teleportation, so your answer can't be right Regards Teleport is an instant effect. You can add a prompt for an instant effect without too much trouble. Group Fly is a constant effect. It is being applied on a constant basis. (It re-applies every 2.25-10 seconds I think?) Null the Gull when spoken to for disabling Group Fly, applies a hidden power to that character that negates the effects of Group Fly. So yes, there is a reason why some things are only available via Null the Gull. 2 1

You are aware that you can have different options enabled in the option config per character, right? That you aren't forced to keep them identical across all character at all times, right? What I am effectively asking for has two main parts: 1) No longer having to talk to a specific NPC in a specific location to apply the invisible passive that disables stuff like externally applied group +fly and speed boost +spd and instead doing it thru a menu accessible at any time or place. It's still being done thru a UI dialogue. 2) Doing this through that menu also enables the *option* to automatically inherit that configuration if one *chooses* to do so when making new characters instead of having to remember to do it every single time one makes an alt for all eternity. Which still ignores the part where the devs said that the only way they could give players the ability to not be affected by those powers was via Null the Gull who grants that character a hidden power that prevents those effects from affecting them. If they could have done it as an option, and I'm pretty sure they tried to, then I'm also pretty sure we would have that option available to us on the options menu right now. Edit: And if you are hoping to be able to interact with Null the Gull anywhere you want? The (Live) devs said they were not going to do that. (So I'm pretty sure the current devs won't either.) (Edit again: The discussion of duplicating Null to other locations has been discussed already. And Null's options apparently can't just be rolled into the options menu. Which is why Null even exists for us to use.) Edited August 11 by Rudra 1
