i was on my lvl 39 necro/marine MM, Scuba Dave, running on the Synapse tf.

the tf was set at +2, with a level 19 leader and a full team.

set at lvl 19, i had; my lich, 1 grave knight, and 3 zombies. my MM had gained one un-trained level after the 1st mission. 

 

it was a kill most run, so we ran through all the missions, taking our time. i noticed that after i lost one zombie, when i cast soul extraction that i only got 4 spirits. this was normal and to be expected. but i noticed that several times later that despite having all of my undead menagerie out (all 5 available), that when soul extraction was cast i still only got 4 spirits. when i tried to repeat this later in the tf, i did not suceed in replicating this.

 

since i was in a tf, i tried taking screen shots but i forgot that screen shots saved in the folder are missing all the UI. so i have a bunch of action shots that show nothing... 😄

 

i'll try later to reproduce this...

i tried running the first mission of synapse solo, at +1/3, and i could not reproduce the bug. maybe my imagination? 😄

 

i'll keep my eye open for it and take pictures, i swear! 🙂

Sounds like a glitch rather than a bug. I love my undead MM and unless the minion is dead or too far away soul extraction works as intended

hmmm... that's possible that the pet was too far away, i did not consider that. according to CoD, soul extraction has a cast range of 60', and an AOE radius of 80'. so if i cast it on something that that is 60' away and a pet is too far behind, they would not get hit and no spirit would be produced?

 

i will consider that is the most likely scenario, until otherwise shown. thank you! 🙂

I've played undead for a long time so have experienced it a few times. Just as I cast it someone runs off and I'm like *$%*£ little *%$^* 😛

I have several necro MM's (probably my favorite MM primary), always swap to follow mode and wait a couple seconds to activate soul extraction, to make sure they are in range, then back to business.

 

It's sad when you're so far ahead of your pets if you pop it I've had only 1 or 2 before, and you feel that you wasted it. A little patience to let them get in range goes a long way (especially on Marine so you can ensure you have shifting tides on a grave knights, power of the depths, and toririal bubble everyone).

Depending on the situation, follow mode isn't a panacea. When I've had my Necro/Marine MM on Rikti Mothership raids, despite having my henchmen set to Follow, I will almost always see one or two halfway up the side of the bowl whacking on some random Rikti that hadn't even made it down into the bowl where I was standing, much less attacked me. So you can still get shafted by your henchmen's target fixation; ordering them to a location near you, then using Soul Extraction, then releasing them to Follow again, or ordering them to attack a particular target, is the only way to really be sure.

You could use go-to commands then to force them to go to where you want them.

I've used a few keybinds to be sure of this.  From my keybind file loaded into every Toon on creation:

 

F11             "screenshotui 1$$screenshot"
F12             "screenshotui 0$$screenshot"
CTRL+F12        "screenshotui 1$$screenshot"

You know you can just hit the prnt scrn button and go to any image editing program, hit edit and then paste and it'll paste the entire screenshot with the UI right?

 

I could see this being a pain in the middle of a bunch of action but that screenshot will stay in memory until you copy/cut with something else.

 

Sorry if it seems rude but I'm always confused that it seems like people don't know this.

Are you looking for Ultramode style, candy coated enhancements and powers?

 yeah, i know... normally if i am solo, i totally would. but i was in the middle of a TF, not wanting to get everyone together for a group shot i did the print screen in the heat of the moment, totally not realizing that the UI was not showing what i wanted...

 

so terrible action photos resulted. no balance, no harmony of elements, no dynamism! 😁

That's what I normally do, although it can take a bit for them all to respond; GoTo/Passive is faster, but then you have to put them back on Defensive or Aggressive afterward. *shrug*
