ajchvy Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Hi there, I've been playing with some friends for about 3 weeks now and I forgot how small and non-modern the in game UI is and feels. Having looked around here, I see there are various mods but its hard to tell what some of them do. Is there a better in game UI mod? Thanks
Captain Fabulous Posted November 12 Posted November 12 What kind of changes are you looking to make? The UI is very customizable in terms of size, placement, colors, transparency, etc.

Its frustrating to me to have to zoom in on the tiny map to find things. I'm not sure if its even possible but an easier way to move and sort Enhancements without having to drag them from each page, and an overall improvement on how the UI looks. I know I can change the size of the windows and positions, but they are clunky.
Captain Fabulous Posted November 13 Posted November 13 You can resize the map, just pull on a corner. You can also detach it to make it a floating window. There are a few mods that alter the fonts and appearance of enhancements and power icons, but nothing that's going to change functionality. Check out CIty Mod Installer, most of the game's mods can be found there.

You talked about issues with the map, but I'm trying to understand how you'd envision it working better. You can zoom and move it around pretty much like you would google maps. Could you give me a better idea of how it should work, or how it could be improved?

The zoom is somewhat annoying as it resets, and sticking to my current location means I can't move around it when I want to search for something specific. It likely won't be as big of an issue once I get accustomed to the zones again, but as of right now it is hard to navigate. 1

I mean, I get that you want information to be readily available, but you can already expand the size of the map, and since the game doesn't pause, it's not really a good idea to have it blocking much of the play area, but still, it can get pretty big. There are some mods that replace the map texture with ones that are more details or contain POIs, but still, it's hard for me to grasp how it isn't sufficient to allow you to get to where you need to go. The biggest issue, IMHO, is that the maps don't clearly reflect elevation, like how there's that under-section in Brickstwon...

You may want to look here: I run the game at 1920 x 1080. My chat text size is set on 14. UI scale at 92% That being said, I'm playing the game on my 36"+ LCD television. My post is here: When I need to - which is rare - I grab the lower right corner of the map window and draw it down until it is big enough that I can see what I want to see. I right-click on the map if I need to go to any certain point. And then I grab the right corner of the map and pull it backup to the original position. If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
GammaSoldier Posted December 15 Posted December 15 You might want to try keybinds as I do: /bind CTRL+F12 "window_scale map 2.0" /bind ALT+F12 "window_scale map 0.86" Try variing the scale factors.
BlackSpectre Posted Sunday at 05:46 PM Posted Sunday at 05:46 PM I know this comment is far too late, but just to add it here for reference's sake... RE: moving enhancements. I often use a trick to move a lot of enhancements from one tab to another and organize them at the same time. It uses the Auction House window, and you transfer enhancements back and forth between the Auction House window and your enhancement slots/window. Whenever enhancements are added to your enhancement window, they are always placed in the first available enhancement slot starting with slot 1 on tab 1. So you won't have complete control of where the enhancements are placed, but in many ways it's faster and easier than dragging the enhancement icons around. Here are the steps: 1. Open the Auction House window by typing /AH. 2. In your enhancement window/slots, double click on each of the enhancements you want to move/organize. When you double click, the enhancement will be transferred to the bottom of the Storage tab in the auction house window. You can organize your enhancements' order by double clicking on the ones you want grouped together. Or you can wait to do that in the next step. 3. Once you have all the enhancements moved into the auction house window, then claim each enhancement to put them back in your enhancement trays. You can click on the claim button(s) quickly. Remember, you can also choose which enhancements to put back into your trays so you can group them together if you didn't already do that in step #2. And that's it. It's not perfect, but if you want to move or organize a lot of enhancements, this method is very helpful.
