Is there a way to cancel active powers placed on our character by someone else using a slash command? Specifically, the Ice Shields from Cold Domination. I'm currently right-clicking the power icons on my character and choosing Cancel to remove them but would love to simplify that by using a macro if possible.

I found the /powers_cancel command in the Wiki, and a post in the forums about it, but it's not something that players can use apparently as we don't have a way to find our Entity ID (it's not visible and changes when zoning).

Why? I have migraines that are triggered by bright spots of light and pulsing lights, both of which are used in the ice shields' visual effects.  It's not usually too bad when the shields are on other team members as people move around a lot and the shields aren't always in my field of view. But the shields on my character means there's a constant bright, pulsing spot of light in the center of my screen.

Even if they don't trigger a migraine they'll often make me dizzy and queasy if I leave the shields up too long. I can usually keep up with manually cancelling them through a mission or two, but leave TFs before starting them if I see a Cold Dom character on the the team.

I don't believe it's possible to do via command line. That said, it's quite possible to override how specific powers (such as those annoying allied bubble powers) appear on your local client via texture mods like this.

Thanks, Maelwys and Lunar Ronin. I tried the mod you both linked to, and it's helping.

The Ice Shield graphics are basically gone so that one's no longer an issue. And while the mod does remove the ice graphics from Glacial Shield, it unfortunately doesn't remove the glowing pulse. It's muted and doesn't seem as bright, but the pulse is still present.

It's noticeably better though and I'll be using the mod from now on. I only have to cancel 1 shield now instead of 2, and that's a big improvement.

Thank you both for the help and the mod suggestion.

There's a slash command listed on the wiki with unknown functionality that may or may not work.

/powers_cancel

Cancel all effects of specified power from the character if power is cancelable and target is you or your pet. ([ent id] [category.powerset.power])

So maybe...

/powers_cancel Glacial Shield

/powers_cancel Ice Shield

Then just throw together a macro image, title, and command. Maybe it will work or maybe it's a bust.

This is why I've been saying ever since color options came out, that subtle colors are far more powerful a choice than bright flashy colors.  Minimum effects are as well, especially when applied to other people's characters.   Were you in the game when color options first came out?  The amount of garish glare everywhere was just ridiculously painful

I don't get migraines but bright lights hurt my eyes and, at some points, there is just too much of a lightshow to be able to see what I'm fighting.

The main things I find to be useful:

/macro fx0 "noparticles 1"

Turns particles off. This will mean that you won't see the VFX for most powers. You'll still see some VFX from certain powers, but the ones that still display are still a lot easier on the eyes.

/macro fx1 "noparticles 0"

Turns the particles back on ... but not completely until after  you zone.

menu>options>graphics and audio>advanced graphics settings>suppress FX when close

This used to not work, but it is working at this point. I'm not sure all that it covers as I haven't really done much testing of it versus just the /noparticles

This mainly targets the character itself from what I can tell.

However, if you go to a taylor, you won't be able to see the VFX of any of your character's powers to be able to customize them if this is enabled.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

/noParticles is good, but you can also adjust the particle count in Options by degrees.

Also you might play around with the  Bloom Amount setting in Options--> Graphics and Audio tab--> Advanced Graphics Settings.

You can right-click on the power’s buff icon under the Health bar and cancel the buff/power.
