Some games really are just chill and laid back. What you’re suggesting is akin to putting a Nine Sols mode into Stardew Valley. It doesn’t make sense, isn’t necessary given what’s available in their version of challenging content, and honestly wouldn’t even be utilized by 99.9% of the playerbase, so, as much as I hate siding with the folks who spam this phrase for everything, it would be a legit waste of resources Aspiring show writer through AE arcs and then eventually a script 😛 AE Arcs: Odd Stories-Arc ID: 57289| An anthology series focusing on some of your crazier stories that you'd save for either a drunken night at Pocket D or a mindwipe from your personal psychic.|The Pariahs: Magus Gray-Arc ID: 58682| Magus Gray enlists your help in getting to the bottom of who was behind the murder of the Winter Court.|

You SAY you want extreme hardcore “challenge” and then if or when that occurs, you pull an Shadow of the Erdtree, complain about it being unfair, then review bomb the content. Except CoH’s review bomb equivalent is…I dunno actually. Yelling at the devs? Um, who are you talking about? Ah that's right! More assumption to assist a false narrative. Edited January 24 by Xion80

But you've already stated your "why iteration" ages ago. I assume this is your take in the attention seeking phase?

When I farm, I do so on my Ice/Fire/Fire blaster. 🙂 But you're also proving my point - anyone who has a capable and survivable toon, can turn on the setting and get more rewards for free. All the farmers would turn this on and just get more and more for free. That's not right - for anyone - farmer or PvE player. There needs to be greater risk for the greater rewards. As a challenge setting - sure, put it in, but no rewards. Removing the rewards aspect is fine by me. It was just "decorations" to the suggestion, if I'm being honest. I just want the debuff injuries. Something to move the goal post for the "regen mitigation" side of the trio. We take full damage, and we don't dodge well. But handling those "injury debuff" is where the healing mitigation would shine.
Seed22 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 (edited) I retract my retraction, this dude is a worse Diantane. I tried talking sense to ‘em, tried getting him to understand that this game will never be uber challenging, but no dice. PSA for those who are reading this: If someone comes to you in CoH asking for what OP ask for, assume they’re blowing smoke up your ass. 100% of the time, they don’t want this mode, not really. They just want to complain about how easy the easiest MMO ever is(by design) while refusing to play actually challenging games. They want to thump their chest mostly about allegedly being good at this relaxed and intentionally easy game by suggesting some outlandish mode that is the unfun version of difficult, basically irritating and overly punishing and imbalanced towards certain ATs while not actually being any harder legitimately than base game. Tell us why you mad son! Is it because you couldn't control the narrative of my suggestion? Is it because you came in disrespectful, adding all kinds of assumptions, and got called on it? Maybe you have an ego problem? You could have let the nothingness roll right down the drain. But no, you wish to make the forum hostile for those who don't "qualify" to contribute their opinion. You wish to backwood Gatekeep the forum. You can kick rocks! Go "PSA" that!

Cheli Posted January 24 Posted January 24 OP fell into the same quagmire every post on this particular subforum does, which is posting an idea that's a bit out there, getting the usual inflammatory responses to it, and then taking the bait until it devolves into a meaningless bickering match about nothing really related to the original topic. I don't honestly even know why the suggestions forum exists at this point, lol. 3

And here I was thinking about a permadeath option for fun! You can already do permadeath - when your character dies, delete them. That's how permadeath works in MMOs like this. As for the original suggestion, no thanks. Hard Mode already gets enough complaints, this would magnify that multiple times for something even fewer people would use. Bluntly: I remember what it was like on Live when there was essentially no ceiling to debt, and also what it was like to go through mission arcs with things like "Vahzilok Wasting Disease". One of the more enjoyable aspects of CoX (to me, anyway) is that defeat inspires can offer the chance to change strategic approach without also adding a debuff for trying the original strategy. Ack! Traumatic flashbacks! I hate that story arc so much. I remember running it back in the early days of Live with my Energy Blaster (which wasn't the first time I'd run it, but it was my first time running it on a character who didn't have mez protection and defenses), and the experience was so miserable that I have never run it again since then. I even have one character who has that story arc available on a contact, and she's level 40 now and that contact is still sitting there with the story arc icon because I refuse to go run it (though obviously I could go run it now at level 40 and it would be hilariously easy). At any rate, I agree with you wholeheartedly here. There's a reason the penalty for being defeated got greatly reduced - because it just wasn't fun. Edited January 24 by Stormwalker 2
