Scarlet Shocker Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I found myself doing some Police Band missions over the last week or so and of course that involves preventing the bad guys robbing the various banks in Paragon. It caused a thought to percolate through my mind. I don't ever recall seeing these robbers anywhere else; yet they have a gang of villainous types following loyally, so they must have some clout with those who are partial to nefarious derring do and nicking the moolah from under the nose of the rightful owners. Do they have back stories, or do they appear elsewhere in the game? Have we broken them out of the Zig ever playing on redside? It just struck me that they probably have interesting enough stories that could make up more lore, even if they aren't ever going to become signature NPCs. There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
tidge Posted January 23 Posted January 23 IIRC some fraction of the "bank robbers" appear in various Red side arcs, and IIRC some of them appear in morality/alignment missions (both sides). Think of (some of) them as being part of a temp agency roster for NPCs. FWIW, I always think it is hilarious to see Lord Recluse robbing a bank. 1 1
Skyhawke Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Man's gotta eat... Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior
Jiro Ito Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Yeah some of them you see in Ms. Liberty's TF, attempting a thorn tree respec in the middle of your TF, some of them you see in Kahn robbing City Hall, and the fire-powered ones show up in Aeon's SF. 2 Play my AE Adventures, listed under @Jiro Ito, including award winners: "The Headless Huntsman of Salamanca" #43870 **Scrapbot AE Contest Winner May 2022** "On the Claw-Tipped Wings of Betrayal" #43524 **November 2021 Dev's Choice** "The Defenders of Talos" #44578 **Mission Architect Competition Winner for October 2021: REBIRTH**
the1egend1ives Posted January 23 Posted January 23 They appear in alignment and morality missions. A lot of the villains become heroes, and vice-versa. 1
Scarlet Shocker Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 do we actually know anything about any of the non-signature ones? There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
TheMoneyMaker Posted January 23 Posted January 23 A little more lore would be nice, as well as seeing them show up in other missions if even just as just referenced in dialogue

This is about it: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Rogue_Isles_Villains Some of those characters do have their own page, which is linked from there, for those who take a more active part in the morality missions, such as Stardusk or Mangle. Most do seem to be blank slates, though. 1 1
VeiledOwl Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Bane Spider Ruben's arc lets you interact with them a bit to get a sense of their personality, but several have very little background/content. If they weren't interesting enough to the devs to be given a role in alignment tip missions, there's not much to go on. 1
Sanguinesun Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Must every two-bit criminal in the city have prolific lore and back stories in the game? Nope. 1 1

Clearly not but it's interesting to know more about some of them, especially those with names and a bit more going on than simply bad guys to beat down. I'm just curious, that's all. Lightslinger Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Just want to add that I love having tons of NPC heroes and villains running around like the characters you mention, both in the world and in missions. They can be lore heavy famous characters, or just some two-bit character, doesn't matter to me. It makes the world feel much more alive. 1
