Jacktar Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Hi, so to take just as an example a Claws/SR scrapper. The Claws Primary is fully twinked out. I now want to roll a Claws/Willpower scrapper. Will the Claws build from the SR scrapper be just as effective for the Claws/Willpower scrapper without any changes? I want to ask if there is an optimal build for a specific primary like Claws that is good for other scrapper secondaries. So how good is a good primary, or must it also be reworked for a different secondary of same AT? Sorry if this is a bit confused, am better at doing than explaining, thanks.
JJDrakken Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Should overall be ok. Though depending on the secondary, you may change recipes sets in some for better results. Example Willpower is a Defense set for Ranged/AoE aka Energy/Negative and Fire/Ice. So all your S/L/M defenses are not exactly required(but helpful). While your resists are S/L/P. You have to use Mid's honestly to compare things. So you get a better understanding. If you have no clue what Mid's is here you go: Mid's Reborn: https://midsreborn.com/
Uncle Shags Posted January 23 Posted January 23 It's a good question. The answer is: it depends. Some things would transfer exactly: Always take this power and always slot it this way. Other times it's more like: Always take this power but you'd slot it differently depending on a number of factors such as how it synergizes with aspects of the secondary or how your enhancement sets and bonuses change due to different secondaries. For instance, you'd get a lot of defensive set bonuses from SR that are different from the healing set bonuses you'd get from willpower, so you may have to change your claws enhancement sets to reach your build goals. Other times you may or may not take a power at all based on the synergy with the secondary. You may also find one secondary has more or less wiggle room when I comes to total powers needed that could influence how you pick powers from your primary. Sorry this may seem vague, but "it depends" answers usually are. =P

I'd caution to better think on and treat each build you make with different combinations on their own instead of comparatively when switching secondaries and other choices. Effectivity varies and in some cases widely.
Jacktar Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Hi guys, thank you all for the very helpful advise and guidance, appreciated. I am now thinking (still refering to my favourite Claws as primary) that with different secondaries on same AT (scrappers) my primary power picks will not change that much, if at all, but I should modify both the way I slot them and with what I slot them to relect the different secondary. My attack chain also may change in order, apart from always starting with FU, but maybe just to reflect AOE or Single foe as is. Better get more up to speed with Mids lol. Cheers
