Gerswin Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Instead of zone invasions like mapserver that encourage afk sitting, make a random ouro arc turn purple every 2 hours on the hour. While a mission arc is purple : -Mission completion bonus xp is 10x -Mission completion reward drops are 2x -Arc completion merits are doubled -All mission bosses are bumped up to AV/EB -Arc completion gives event specific reward such as seasonal temp power (eg. 4th of July firework, Winter freeze ray, etc.) Some arcs are fast enough people would farm them with different toons, while others may be a race to complete in the time period. Teaming would be encouraged but not mandatory (for AVs) . This would leverage the wealth of instanced mission content available without stressing the server with lag. Some arcs would not be in the list if prone to exploitation. 1 2
TheMoneyMaker Posted April 8 Posted April 8 How about replacing "instead of" with "in addition to"? Like maybe the next time they put an event idea together, do something more in line with what you're suggesting, and then they could see what's more popular. Rudra Posted April 8 Posted April 8 (edited) Probably not going to happen. Doing so would require the devs to go through every faction of the game and create AV versions of every boss in those factions to implement this and this would encourage farming. And while the devs don't seem to have any issues with players farming, they also haven't demonstrated any support for providing farms themselves. (Edit: Oh yeah, it will also require new versions of every arc in Ouroboros that replaces the bosses for each mission with the newly created AV version instead, and it will require implementing a system that swaps between those two versions of arcs randomly every 2 hours.) Chris24601 Posted April 9 Posted April 9 That said, I do want to see something other than the existing zone events simply because my connection can’t keep up with more than a league’s worth of players spamming massive FX porn in a concentrated area. If I don’t have a toon with a PBAoE like Spin to accidentally hit something and thereby give me a target, everything dies before my Internet will even let me target anything. Some sort of events where you have to spread out more would be greatly appreciated.

The macro that gets posted in league chat fairly often during the mapserver events: /macro_image "originicon_natural" "LAG Toggle" "++noparticles $$sync" will address some of the lag during a mapserver event, by cutting out most of the haze of power effects. However, many powers have visuals made up of nothing but particles, like Fire Cages, so it's going to make it hard to see what you're doing, and the presence of so many mobs in a small area firing off lots of powers is going to cause significant lag, compounded by the apparently insoluble issue of the sequence, when mobs spawn in, of "mob becomes visible... mob becomes targetable... wait... mob attacks... wait... mob attacks... wait... mob becomes a valid target for attacks that require a target... mob is dead from other players'/pets' attacks before your attack goes off" unless you're targeting through a pet, whose targeting occurs on the server and is not subject to the targeting delay you see on your client. 1
Aracknight Posted April 9 Posted April 9 (edited) From a roleplay perspective, I like this idea. One could get a notice or a summons from a mender that something specific (a random story arc) has gone wrong that used to be right, and its up to you to set things back in order. It's a little more urgency than just passively clicking the crystal and trying to figure out what you're gonna do today. Sort of an Oro based version of a newspaper or radio mission. Obviously we wouldn't take away any existing mechanisms for Oro missions, just adding an option for some immersion or direction for those into it. Edited April 9 by Aracknight 1
