Intermipants Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 Done! 28:48. Trick is to get explorations near to trains and SG bases, sell salvage, do AE badge arcs, and flip to red side as a vigilante. Echo explores are great and being a stalker is a must. 1 1

Anyway hes right behind Null's van and if you click him once he'll follow you around until someone else clicks him. If you click the hell outta him, rapid fire style, he will eventually eat you. You will die and rez in the hospital and you get a badge for the whole thing. I think he may give you gifts at random clicks as well, maybe just inspirations. One could easily run up to him, click like mad and get the badge in 30 seconds or less. 3 1 SPOON!

Thanks I'd found him, but I couldn't get him to eat me - he did minor damage but my regen (on a non-regen SO'd character) overcame the damage he was doing. I tried hitting him with powers, much to the annoyance of DJ Zero but with no success. I shall click and click and click until I'm sick 1 If going to space for 11 minutes makes you an astronaut, then I'm probably an expert gynaecologist.

I shall click and click and click until I'm sick Lol, just click like a lunatic as fast as you can, you don't have to wait for the animation or message. When it happens (at least in my experience) it's instant death, not the little dot damage he does. However, I remember reading a post here that claimed that Sentinel Invul had some interaction that prevented Blarf from consuming them. That poster resolved it by using the "disable all powers" button available from the START vendor so maybe give that a shot if nothing else works. 50 minutes ago, Snarky said: nutrient rich badge! bitch stole my blood! I tested on a crupper and Scarlet Sentinel - he ate both quite simply - so either it's been fixed for sentinels or information went blah Thanks for your help and input 1 1 If going to space for 11 minutes makes you an astronaut, then I'm probably an expert gynaecologist.
Ukase Posted May 6 Posted May 6 If I'm remembering clearly, it's not the DOT that Blarf does that gets you, it's the -hp he does. Eventually, even a regen character's hp will drop low enough and you die. 3

Intermipants Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 (edited) So I gave it one last go and got it down to 28:06 thanks to Blarf and his nutrient rich goodness. 101 badges: 58 explorer, 20 AE badges, 11 achievement, 7 accolades, 1 day job, 1 ouro, 1 event, 2 gladiator. (Forgot to do the Wentworths ones which would probably have shaved off 30 seconds). That'll be my last go, I don't think I can go much faster. But where one door closes another opens - I now have a level 1 character with 101 badges which is the perfect starting point for the Snarky inspired how many badges can a lvl 1 toon get challenge. I'll be doing a few zones a day with this little fella if anyone's interested in joining. I spent a lot of time working on the build for it in mids and I'm pretty satisfied where things ended up but if anyone has any build advice or guidance it'd be much appreciated. Scarlet Shocker Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I actually like the idea of building a dedicated badger (I've never really been one) and getting a few together to see if we can get 500 in short(ish) order On live, I ran an event where we got the Isolator (before it was easy at 30 something) and that proved to be quite popular Might be a nice way to start. 5 or 6 players teaming in Outbreak then moving on... Back when Cosmic Council was thriving, I had set out to try and find a truly efficient way to get all the badges as organically as possible. It was really just overwhelming. Perhaps Voltor, one of our more accomplished badge folks has a system he could share. There's so many badges...one thing is clear to me, there's a zillion different ways to get them. I like to grab explores as I level up and fill the patrol xp up. The problem is patrol xp per badge seems to be a lower percentage of xp required as you level up, so you can run out of zones to fill the patrol xp up if you play every day. I do think if you have a group, starting in outbreak would be ...inefficient, and here's why: Because Shivans are a defeat npc category, and because Contaminated give the Isolator badge, and because Breakout has that exploration badge, you can get all three of those in Pilgrim's Ouro introduction arc. Disclaimer: It's been over a couple of years since I've done this. I could have forgotten some crucial detail. Mea Culpa. Either way, a group like that would be fun, and I'm sure if you weren't sure about certain methods or tips and tricks on how to get certain badges, you'd learn! 1

NorseStar Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I really miss the xp from exploration badges. For some reason it made it more fun for me. Every toon would come out of the tutorial and go straight into badge/plaque mode. Every Zone you could access right away. Level 8 achieved, all long range locations established, then right into day jobs. Since they made that change it’s a chore. Now I get out of the tute and head straight to RV to start day jobs. I rarely get my exploration badges anymore, my zones are always locked, and I almost always forget a plaque here and there. I hate it. I try not to complain about the changes cause,Free Game and, there must be some good reason, but this is the one thing that has completely changed the way I play and not for the better. Rewards Merits are not all that exciting to me. I like playing a lot of the low level content and I like to play my toons At Level.
Intermipants Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 Brutally dull conference call at work almost interrupted a blistering 22:45 run! My friend on the same call ran a 27 even. 1 2

True, it's not the same as direct xp but it essentially doubles (not sure on the math there, someone will correct me) you're xp gain until it runs out. Especially impactful at the low levels where getting 1 full zone caps or nearly caps your patrol. In my experience it makes a huge difference and I try to grab a couple badges before most mission for that little boost. They don't give you xp anymore but they still give you xp if ya know what I mean. SPOON!
Dark Bladed Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) Definitely a fun little speedrun idea. Have done a few runs over the last couple nights. Been having fun running, realizing a better path and then trying it. Settled on an 18m46s run this evening. I've got the beginning pretty well down, just trying to figure out better time management waiting for Long Range Teleport. Will probably leave it at this time, and try and actually think of a better full path instead of doing a good start, and winging it after that. My run will be below so anyone else who is interested can get an idea of what else you could do. I deviated from the Stalker idea and went Warshade so I could get Shadow Step. The ski runs were inspired and when you told me you were doing it with a ws the other night I was blown away, great to see it in action. Quick question - what’s with all the Christmas packages? im still stuck at 20:25 with my stalker approach. I think I can get a minute off that but now im tempted to go warshade. also how do you get the timer on your screen? again, well done! That was brilliant.

The christmas presents is "/e opengift". It can be used in certain circumstances to bypass non-combat root times. You can see it best I exit elevators/doors and when reviving in the video. I have it bound to my left click, so it just spams everytime I click. 3 hours ago, Intermipants said: also how do you get the timer on your screen? That is LiveSplit, a wonderful timer that speedrunners in most games use. I have it captured as a source in OBS, and have the background color keyed out to be transparent. Definitely a fun run. Im hoping some others give it a try, even if they aren't trying to compete. Its just a really good test of knowledge on game locations and mechanics. If anyone has any interest or other questions, would love to help answer them. HC Speedrunning Discord https://www.speedrun.com/city_of_heroes
Intermipants Posted Friday at 11:37 PM Author Posted Friday at 11:37 PM Thanks for the tip with the open gift! I got a 19:29 with my stalker. Used SG buffs on run speed and flight speed to move things along a bit. Also experimented with the invisibility buff on the warshade but was killed in Perez. Perez is so good though, that cluster of 6 badges - I just can't leave it alone. I also sold all my salvage for the Wentworth badges while I was flying around Cap, which saved a bit of time. Need to change my route a bit though because I'm still wasting time.
