Ukase Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Yesterday, I made a dominator for the first time in a couple of years. I was in high spirits, led a dfb, got the badges. All fairly routine. I joined a Hollows team, which is something I've only done rarely on HC, as I tend to solo that stuff due to work. But yesterday, I managed to get on a team and went from level 9 to 16 in about 30 minutes. Just two missions, I think. Maybe it was three. I did have the 2xp buff, but I don't have any memory of getting xp that quickly as a lower level character outside of a farm. Is that normal for a team of 8? I might have to rethink how I do things. If I can take a 30 minute break and get 7 levels...instead of playing for 10 minutes here and there...I might come out ahead. 1
OverkillEngine Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I'm guessing you got onto a FrostFire arc team. Yeah that one's good xp. If you can make it over the hump of the first mission or two. 1
mistagoat Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The Atta mission and the Frostfire mission could easily stack quite a few level ups. I could certainty see getting 7 levels in 30ish min though it's probably on the high end of the spectrum. SPOON!
Billbailey96 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 I love the Hazard Zones from a conceptual level, the idea of a danger so devastating that it cause whole sections of the city to be quarantined. I feel like there needs to be more reasons to get you to go out to those areas (though there are plenty of early game contacts that send you Perez Park, and in Independence port I have been spending some time in Terra Volta). Sorry if this is off topic to the original spirit of the thread. 2
MonteCarla Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Yeah, team XP is great. You get a team size bonus factored in, up to 2.5x for a full team of 8. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Experience Combined with the number of bosses you get when teaming, and all the natural benefits of being on a well-balanced team, it can make the early levels fly by. I've often found myself in the low 20s after doing both Positrons, for example. They used to be more popular as destination back on Live when there was enough raw population to reliably get a whole team together to do them at almost any hour of the day. Because that's what really the best use of them was for, is when you have a strong team as those zones were not solo friendly for a long time in Live. Kind of like a bridge in content between regular contact arcs and Taskforce contacts.

The trick, (at least in most cases), is that while, yes, you split XP for being on a team, but you're also defeating a lot more enemies and much more quickly. On top of that, you're generally up against a lot more LTs and bosses, which give quite a bit more XP per defeat than minions...
Snarky Posted June 7 Posted June 7 teams of 8 are great. my method to "farm" a new alt is doing every TF/SF/Trial in order (of last level possible for the thing, so 20-40 is considered 40) this gives a great way to learn a character and provides solid experience. there is a lull in the late 30-early 40s. then you need to grab any ITF/Aeon you can get on. 1

I had in fact just completed Flux's arc to reach level 9 and was headed to Kings Row. I've certainly been on teams of 8 before, and was well aware of the xp bonus for a team of 8 and all that - but even with 2xp, I don't recall getting fat xp like that previously, except during the mapserver event. And the mobs we were tackling weren't purple. They were mostly even or +1. It just took me by surprise. Edited June 7 by Ukase 1
