Troo Posted Wednesday at 03:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:30 PM I'm looking at you Deflection Shield, Insulation Shield, Shadow Fall, Steamy Mist, etc.. Why am I looking at you? Is it because you are ugly? Is it because you make other characters look ugly? Is it because a player wanted the brightest, most colorful powers? You-do-you I guess, even if others hate being turned into a hot pink ball. Is because of the glow the graphics card puts off as it getting closer to melting? I get theme, a character oozes blood and smearing that on other folks gives them some protection. (some folks be crazier than others) It's just that, well, sometimes I can't see anything else.. literally. Individually any of these buffs can make it more challenging visually, the more of them there are the more blinding they can be. I want cool colors when I play force fields. Instead I pick colors that will show up the least. Browns seem to work well. I would like to make a suggestion on how to address the sometimes unintentional griefing, but I don't know what it should be. A scaling dimmer based on how many folks are on a team/league? or in a zone? Could the coloration dim after application? Could the effect dim over time? 2 "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) Si vis pacem, para bellum
Doomguide2005 Posted Wednesday at 06:32 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:32 PM That would be fine as long as something shows. I try to avoid messing things up visually but I also use the graphics to help me know what buffs are on my allies. Important info as I use my buffs or watch for debuffs. But a wash of effects also washes out those same clue and info. 1
MonteCarla Posted Friday at 12:36 PM Posted Friday at 12:36 PM I hear you! The costume creator is one of the best things in this game. And it kind of sucks when your teammates make you transparent, covered in ice or fire and look like they have colored dirty candyfloss coming off their feet. (eg Darkest Miasma with green or pink tints) ( My pink force bubbles are great though, and great at identifying which teammates are comfortable with their masculinity 😛 ) Oh, and Fade in Controller's Dark Affinity - wonderful power numerically, a shame it has to make your entire team almost totally invisible! As a solution, would it be possible to have a setting to "Ignore Buff VFX from other players?" so that I see my pink bubbles on everyone, but players who've selected not to don't see them? And don't get faded out. Each status effect knows who the caster is, so some client-based screening could take place? In theory. 1 The Badass Empath Guide Modern Force Fields Guide The Rich Alt's Guide to Perma-Dom Resistances for Brutes Proc Bombing for Defenders

Yes, Fade, still the worst of them all. Lets turn your entire team invisible against their will. As a kicker, lets have it not actually grant any stealth, so they sometimes run around thinking they are stealthed when they aren't. Okay, sometimes that part can be funny. Ice shields can be another bad one, I know I always use min fx and choose dark colors when I make a cold buffer, but a lot of people don't. 1

So, thanks for that. Sky-Hawke: Rad/WP Brute Alts galore. So...soooo many alts. Originally Pinnacle Server, then Indomitable and now Excelsior
lyra Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago thanks to all iceshield buffers that choose sensible colorchoices. [NPC] Fallen Gunner: Hero schmero.
