Samyrmancer
I am making an angel for my tanker. Are there any sets that work particularly poorly with Hover? Any that work particularly well? Has anyone ever had a tank with hover that would like to comment?
marcussmythe
Id avoid powersets that have moves that require you to be on/close to the ground. TW’s Arc of Destruction, for example. Outside of that, tanked in Hover for years back on live on an Inv/EM. No problems other than occasionally getting head stuck on stuff Great Justice - Invuln/Energy Melee Tank Ann Atomic - Radiation/Super Strength Tank Elecutrix - Electric Blast/Super Reflexes Sentinel Ramayael - Titan Weapons/Bio Scrapper C'len - Spines/Bio Brute
jcbrooklyn
I have heard SS's Foot Stomp can have weird interactions when Hovering. But I have not tried it out personally.
Kruunch
As noted, beware of powers that depend on ground interaction (i.e. Electric Armor's Grounded).
Hyperstrike
For secondaries? There are powers out there that require ground contact to execute. To running solely from Hover can interfere with your attack chains. Just be aware of this. For primaries? NO STONE. Some of your DEFENSES require ground contact (Rooted, Granite), and enforce this by auto-disabling any powers that interfere. If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!
Samyrmancer
Thank you for your replies. I on an angel kick and I thought making Michael a tanker might be fun. 8)
Statesmandy
I would do TW just because it has some really neat alternate attack animations when you're flying. (But try them out before committing, in case you hate it. :) )
marcussmythe
It does - but man Id hate to give up Arc of Destruction... I suppose you could run Titan Sweep and Whirling Sword instead. Its not like losing AoD makes TW a bad set. Xaeon
Any set that offers defense for survivability pairs well with hover. "Titan/Bio scrappers are the stealthiest toons in the game." "How's that possible? They don't have any inherent stealth and you'd never take concealment pool powers on them!" "You see; they're perfect at stealth because nobody will notice if there's nobody to notice."
Heraclea
Hover is a godsend in City of Kinetics. Works wonders on Council catwalk maps. Jeneki
I like the look of weapon sets when hovering, and the way some attacks lean downward when striking from above. Back in the day I felt like cavalry wading into the enemies lines.
