Suggestions/Critique/Rebuild for Rad/Bio

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to try Rad Melee since I came back but couldn't find anything that felt great. I feel like Bio could be a good fit and potentially hit VERY hard with offensive adaptation, -res aura and Rad having high base damage. I've put together a build but it feels like it's just mediocre all around. Doesn't have softcap or massive rech or anything. I'm worried about pumping resources into it just to have it turn out very 'meh'. Crunching builds is often hard for me as I have chronic vertigo from a medical condition and it makes it very difficult to focus my eyes sometimes, much less concentrate for long periods of time to really iron things out. Any help would really be appreciated. Was also considering a rad/SD which I think would be considerably more straightforward but have a lower performance ceiling. Thoughts?

I wouldn't sweat hitting the softcap on /bio. At a quick glance your build looks great, save for one thing: you're not taking Parasitic Aura! This is a key power for /bio, think of instant healing + dull pain + adrenalin boost's recovery all rolled into one. With Parasitic Aura, Brutes can sit in packs of +4 cimerorans, getting debuffed all the way to -100% def, and laugh at the incoming damage. Admittedly scrappers don't share the 90% RES cap so you won't quite be able to pull that off, but it should illustrate just how potent the power is anyway.

Thanks for chiming in. I actually have a TW/Bio but he never needs Parasitic Aura so it's kind of a dead space. Super Jump is just a convenience so if I find my survivability needs the boost it would just be a matter of shifting a couple selections to open the spot for PA (Hasten into SJ slot, PA taken late build). I appreciate the comments.

Here is what I could tweak to get you to soft cap def s/l and melee.  I ditched confront for proton sweep since it's a good AOE and is usually part of an attack rotation.  Swapped slots around to get parasitic aura it's just too good to skip both for a mule for more rchg and end refill +you are super hard to kill with the regen and it will be up quite often.  Despite these changes the new build out performs in most stats.  You won't be able to squeeze much more rchg out of it and you are close enough for perma hasten with ageless slotting only way would be agility/spiritual alpha which are way too high a price to pay over Musculature on a scrap.

Can tweak some stuff based on preference while still maintaining Def Soft caps...Dark Blast for Moonbeam(not a fan of the snipe as only under Fusion would you be able to use solo, it's just not consistent enough imo).  Running both Auras is thirsty but thankfully Bio can recover between DNA Siphon/Parasitic also Ageless for +rchg/end it fill that hole should you still have one.

Enjoy, I think you will like it.  The combo has a lot going for it and you will have damage and amazing survivability

Could I trouble you for a version that focuses on recharge with as much resist as feasible?  I'm on a Mac with no Pines.  Purples/expensive stuff is fine.  As a follow up, do you guys think def softcap is worth it without good DDR on /bio?

Thanks for the build, I'll certainly look it over and poke at it. I'm playing the Rad/Bio in the other window right now and I have to say... the animation times don't thrill me thus far but it certainly hits like a truck.
