You can fight Battalion right now.

He's a Hellion boss in a low level blueside mission.

EDIT:

More seriously, I would not hold my breath. From the developer's point of view, there is no point to publicly committing to that until they have something they're happy with at least 90% coded. Because you know the moment they publicly commit to it, the forums will go wild with thread after thread asking "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How much longer? Are we there yet?".  I don't want the devs to have to pull the City over and turn it around and go home because we over-nagged them.

I can understand them not wanting to tell us. but I do hope they have something good cooking we can find out about when its almost ready.

Will we ever fight Praetorian Hami ?

As an incursion to Earth Prime, or as a taking back of Praetorian Earth?   I'm a little nebulous on the "current" moment in the Praetorian lore.

I think Praetoria is mostly tentacle land now. Partly our fault because old king cole was the one standing in the way.

The devs don’t seem to be in any hurry to fight Battalion, and I don’t really blame them. Sure there’s story build up, but it also feels kinda like story power creep to justify more premium incarnate tiers.

The Last Bastion becoming a playable hazard zone could be cool though.

I mean I would hope they continue the story as intended before, in some form. We aren't ready to fight battalion yet though we'd probably have a few steps to go through first.

Also there will be no "Premium Incarnate tiers" now

What is wrong with that?

I'd love to see more progression, the rest of the incarnate slots complete and added, and more options for judgment, to name one attack.

Oh, and new costume sets and especially new hairstyles while we are at it lol I'm desperate for new female hairstyles. been too long with the same ones.

Personally I am happy of those unfinished story lines never get completed. They are part of the old game and it's very difficult to pick up someone else's story and finish it.

Plus it's kind of fitting that we have those hints but never see them come to fruition, given the actual history of the game.

I'm pretty ok with the direction the game is going in now, I'm happy for our current devs do do their thing... In many ways they seem more grounded and focused on story rather than delivering the next shiny but that's possibly because they don't have the commercial pressures of having to make a game make $$$ unlike original devs.

I think we can all agree that since the resurrection, our current team have done very very well by us and I trust them to continue in that vein.

I mean... I got a bit of a Battalion vibe from the Void Hunter arc in the Wharf, so it does seem like the story is still moving in that direction.  We just have more grounded stories of the smaller potato gangs escalating, too (like the Freak-lok).

I'd like to see more entities coming up with alternatives to combat Incarnate powers, though.  Like... the Trolls, for instance.  We need some Level 50 supatrolls running around Kallisti or Peregrine jazzed on an incarnate mix of their favorite steroid.  They call it... I-o-dine *snigger*.

As for Praetorian Hamidon, I can't imagine a conflict with it being any more succinct than the push back to form Last Bastion.  While some radial missions in a hazard zone would be nice (a 40-50 shared zone Praetorians can also venture to after Night Ward), you can't really BEAT Praetorian Hamidon because it's basically the whole planet at this point.  It's like a dozen ants trying to topple a human being, or in CoH terms it's like trying to beat Mot after it already ate everybody (come to think of it, I bet Dr. Hamidon ate or absorbed Mot in Praetoria... the Hamidon's vast power and reach seem to suggest that).
