Resistance Debuff Resistance

Is it true that 100% Resistance works vs debuff, fully negating it?  If so, how does Type matter?

Even tanks and brutes have resistance capped at 90%, no matter how many set bonuses they have, so I don't believe 100% is ever going to be acheiveable.

 

That said, yes, your resistance to resistance debuff, is your resistance.  So if you have 90% resistance to Smashing/Lethal, but only 40% resistance to negative energy, your smashing/lethal resistance won't move hardly at all, but your negative energy resistance will be impacted much more strongly.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the cap only applies to how much damage you take, rather than your resistance to debuffs.
So if you build up 100% Smashing Resistance, say, then you'll still have 90% effective resistance to damage on a Tank/Brute, but you can't be debuffed at all.

I've seen the claim that Res is capped at 90, but not debuff Res

This is correct with 1 caveat.  Unresistable resistance debuffs exist and those *will* lower your resistance, even if you have > 100% resistance.

You can get resistance to 100%.  It caps (for purposes of resisting that damage type) at 90% on Tank/Brutes.  It does not cap for Resistance Debuff Resistance.  So a value of 100 will resist ALL resistance debuffs.  (This was discussed much during early Aeon days).  
 

As was mentioned there are a very few, tiny, minuscule number of mobs out there with UNRESISTABLE resistance debuff.  Including at least one LB Warden. Rarely encountered.  They exist.  Life sucks.  Move on.  
 

This is per damage type, just exactly like the resistance is per damage type. GL have fun
