ThaOGDreamWeaver Posted Wednesday at 12:05 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:05 AM So, this is happening. And it’s taking on all the modern Bat-movies - Nolan and Reeves for definite, possibly Burton too - with the usual blend of frame-for-frame nerdery homages and casual mick-taking. And I already have one gutlaugh just from the voice casting… Matt Berry. Bane. Perfect, no notes. 1 WAKE UP YA MISCREANTS AND... HEY, GET YOUR OWN DAMN SIGNATURE. IMDB insists it has not been given a page for the game yet, and the official website does not appear to list the voice actors. I'm fine with this. It feels slightly toned down from the antics of Lego: Batman 2 and 3 which I thoroughly played. Two things concern me: 1. I'm not really gravitating to the voice doing Batman/Bruce Wayne. Please tell me that's not Troy Baker. It doesn't sound like his former performances of the role. Troy had a great voice for the overly-dramatic, tongue-in-cheek take on the Dark Knight in previous Lego games. Will Arnett in the movie version fit the bill as well. This voice doesn't seem to connect to the character well. 2. While I enjoyed the games, I absolutely hated the keyboard control setup, and that I couldn't change it to something more comfortable. Hated it enough that if I find this game has the same control setup, I'll pass on buying the game.

Not out yet, but come on... you don't need a cast list for that voice. (Now I'm just waiting for you really are the most devious b*****d in all Gotham Citaaaaayyy...and that hat as a collectable/powerup.) As for the Bat-voice: no, I don't recognise it either. Doesn't quite sound like Troy, or Will Arnett, for that matter. It could just be someone on the production team if they needed a scratch voice for production, and that line hasn't been rerecorded yet. If I have a slight concern, it's the appearance of Ledger's Joker, which... ...well, I'm sure the man himself would have been fine with being sent up, being Aussie. It just feels odd, and I'm not sure how you handle that in the context of this style of game. Edited Wednesday at 11:02 AM by ThaOGDreamWeaver WAKE UP YA MISCREANTS AND... I had not considered the possibility of placeholder voices being used for the trailer. I didn't even realize that was a thing, but it could indeed be a good explanation. It may also explain why the Joker doesn't seem to have that on-the-edge-of-insanity element to the voice. Though I still think the trailer is a bit toned-down from previous Lego Batman antics, re-watching it now to hear the voices again, I do have to admit that the last gag of stepping on a LEGO after declaring mastery of the dark was pretty funny and a nice bit of self-deprecating humor from LEGO.
ThaOGDreamWeaver Posted Wednesday at 02:24 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 02:24 PM (edited) Scratch tracks are fairly common in animation, movies and games, with people putting various degrees of effort into it - often for storyboarding, FX mockups and such. Mostly they’ll get ADR’d out, though they’re useful for actors and overseas dubbers to time to… and sometimes they stick. Two that I know got kept are the Incredibles’ Rick Dicker (veteran animator Bud Luckey, who unfortunately had to be replaced for the second pic by Saul’s Jon Banks), and director Brad Bird’s epic take on Edna Mode, dahlink. You couldn’t really imagine any other voice doing that… Edited Wednesday at 02:25 PM by ThaOGDreamWeaver 1 WAKE UP YA MISCREANTS AND... HEY, GET YOUR OWN DAMN SIGNATURE.
