Shotguns for Sentinels

I've argued it before, but given that pretty much every APP/PPP for melee ATs have ranged attacks demonstrates that they can work with shields...

I don't know if the game can calculate damage or the magnitude of effects based upon the range of the target.  What they could do is have the range and cone widths vary from power to power, but that might make the set a nightmare to play.  I'm not against it, but how would you further differentiate the powers?

We have at least a couple shotgun temp powers (from Striga Isle arcs and Brickstown zone event) that shield users can get. If it's a single usable animation, I don't think many people would complain about it being used repeatedly to give us a shotgun & shield powerset combo. Non shield users could have all the regular animations and just one or two one-handed shooting animations for the shield users wouldn't break anything but would make so many people happy.

this would be a valid rework of AR perhaps mixed with pistols.  Sentinel attacks have less range, less targets, and do less damage.  Tailoring the shot attacks to mimic a shotgun in visual effects and damage would be pretty cool.  Phosphorous, Slug, or Shot attacks!
