Can I get some remedial bind help, please?

Hi all! My knowledge of /bind is a bit... um... dated. Waaaay back when I knew that if I wanted to bind a key to the first slot in tray one, I would use (for example)

 

/bind numpad1 "powexec_slot 1"

 

And if I wanted to bind a key to the first slot in tray two, it'd be

 

/bind numpad1 "powexec_altslot 1"

 

... but that's largely irrelevant now since you can bind keys directly to the first three trays through the UI.

 

That said: How would you bind a key to a slot in tray 9? Is it possible?

OK, I found the answer!

 

The proper format is:

 

/bind [key combo] "powexec_tray [tray slot#] [tray#]"

 

So for example, if I want to activate slot 1 on tray 9, it would be:

 

/bind numpad1 "powexec_tray 1 9"

I'm proud of the guide, but it doesn't really cover trays 4-9. powexec_slot and powexec_altslot are as far as it went..

So you are the author of that guide, @Curveball? If so, it's an honor to meet you. Your guide is so well composed that even today I marvel at the achievement... and you wrote it during Beta when no other information was available. The amount of investigation and research you did to figure out the whole system is mind boggling.  

 

Honestly, your guide is the whole reason I dived so deeply into binds.

Shucks! Yes that was me, though I've forgotten so much about bind it might as well not have been me at this point. I wasn't the only person in beta who was documenting it though. The original file has an acknowledgments section that isn't on the wiki version - no reason it should be, it was very beta-specific:

Back in the beta testing days I searched through threads gathering all the information I could find on /bind, and I took lots of useful info from a lot of people. I was mostly interested in trying to figure out how to assign commands to my mouse. I didn't even know toggle binds were a thing until someone else figured it out.

I'm not sure how long it'll be up, but there's always Shenanigunner's site. Support is likely non-existent as the player has passed recently.
