Papaschtroumpf Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 I have never played RM and it seems to have some interesting mechanics. RM/Dark seems popular here but I was thinking RM/Elec for no reason I can identify I've never played /Dark on melee before, does it hide your costume? (I'm guessing you can set it to minimal effects anyway) Anyone playing RM/Elec? Is it any good? any sample build?
Zumberge Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Yeah, Dark Armor was (and is) infamous for blotting out your character with a combination of multiple armor effects and stealth, and thankfully that can be turned off. Can't say much for Rad Melee first-hand, but Electric Armor has a pretty good suite of powers in it: A self-heal, endurance recovery, +recharge, endurance drain resist (i.e. Carnies and Sappers basically do nothing to you), and you're gonna cap energy resist without really trying. Toxic and negative energy are gonna be problems, though, and while you have -slow resist you don't have -recharge resist, and your immobilize and knockback protection require you to be on the ground for them to work, so superjumping through an area with snipers is gonna result in you getting knocked on your ass. Smashing and lethal resists are kind of on par with other "elemental" resist sets - that is to say, hovering around 40% or so - so I'd recommend picking up Tough, which you can easily do these days. For what it's worth, though, Rad Melee seems like the kind of set that works with basically anything, insofar as it doesn't depend heavily on having a lot of recharge or recovery. As a Scrapper main I eat a steady diet of crayons and glue to keep my wits sharp and my reflexes honed.
Xaeon Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 I have a Rad/Rad brute and he works out like a dream. The free recharge from beta decay is very nice, and ground zero is a nice addittion to my attack chain to melt hordes. "Titan/Bio scrappers are the stealthiest toons in the game." "How's that possible? They don't have any inherent stealth and you'd never take concealment pool powers on them!" "You see; they're perfect at stealth because nobody will notice if there's nobody to notice."
Rylas Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 I have both a Rad/Bio and a Rad/Fire brute. Both do incredibly well and both have great synergy. Rad/Bio teams up to great debuffs: -def and -res. Rad/Fire is just lots of AoE fun. /Elec sounds like a good pairing since you can replinish endurance, but I would imagine /Dark might be a bit too much of an end hog to go with Rad/. Infinitum Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 Anyone playing RM/Elec? Is it any good? any sample build? My main at the moment is a Rad/Elec set up to tank. It is pretty close to unkillabe aside from a lucky 2 shot from Bobcat in Tin Mage Tf and Hamidon in LGTF. I tanked Recluse in Stf, and can survive for hours in the AE fire farm. While my Hybrid incarnate is up nothing can kill it with an emphasis on nothing. It's very fun, the heavy ST attacks are slow but feel very powerful and you have to use strategy in targeting sometimes or you might corpse bomb. Aoe is awesome, and secondary effects are good.. I'll post a build up when I get to a computer.
Papaschtroumpf Posted July 15, 2019 Author Posted July 15, 2019 I would appreciate that. I don't promise to follow it but it's often a good place to start to understand a new combo

The free recharge from beta decay is very nice, and ground zero is a nice addittion to my attack chain to melt hordes. I'll second this. Rad Armour is very, very good. As well as being a generic resistance set, it has an ally heal, two damage powers, three endurance boosting powers and a recharge reduction aura that would be good enough to without it. You can't go wrong with rad/rad. There's also a nifty build that has Meltdown and Rune of Protection that while neither is able to be perma'd; you can shave the recharge far enough that when one is on cooldown you just pop the other instead. And unlike older armour sets, Meltdown's "crash" is very forgiving and with all the endurance the set gives you; can probably be easily ignored or even not noticed at all in exchange for its effect not being as dramatic as Unstoppable or Power Surge. This build lets you cap out a number of resistances that normally only tankers and Kheldians could manage. "Titan/Bio scrappers are the stealthiest toons in the game." "How's that possible? Papaschtroumpf Posted July 15, 2019 Author Posted July 15, 2019 So Rad/Elec or Ra/Rad? which one is best? I think Elec provides more AoEs?

Elec only issue is toxic and its not as prevalent as rikti and other types like rikti, so ultimately thats why I built Elec first - I do have rad rad in the works, because its great also. You cant really go wrong with either one.

Papaschtroumpf Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 Alright. Both are tempting but after seeing the impact on costume among other considerations, I rolled a Rad/elec. /Rad does look interesting too, maybe for another day and another primary (or likely a tank, assuming it's available as a tank primary)
