I play mostly brute and scrapper. Was originally looking for something to play in friends' fire farms that isn't melee but survives and very helpful, Soloing, teaming elsewhere is a bonus, but primary focus is useful in fire farms. Of note, no hasten but seems to have ok recharge anyhow. Thoughts?

My favorite combo and the only thing I've remade from live since restarting

 

  • You've still got a lvl 48 slot to place.
  • 1 Acc in Siphon Power provides more than enough (ie well over 95% final to-hit) accuracy.  I'd move one elsewhere
  • I think you'd enjoy either of the kb-kd procs in Shockwave.  It provides great mitigation and no one will complain
  • Additional slot in Fulcrum for recharge
  • Screech also has maxed out final to-hit against +3 
  • No Transfusion eh?  Bold choice Cotten
  • Chance to stun proc in SB?  Uhhhh.....

Thanks for the input, and alternate build plan.

 

Good spot on the Siphon Power

 

I was hoping that I'd be fighting hard enough targets to not kb, but I do very much hate kb, adjusted.

 

Did you see my recharge is up very high if I keep the shockwave proc going(171%)? I saw that the duration on Fulcrum was 45s, and I've already got 22s recharge, does it need more?

 

Oops on the Screech.

 

I've heard enough people saying healing isn't needed at higher levels that I thought it would be ok without.

 

 

I thought the SB chance to stun would stack, causing greater mag stun for harder targets?

I'm not sure if it's the app, or your build, but it loads up with nothing slotted in Choking Cloud, nor Radiation Infection ?

SB is cast on your allies.  I'm not sure if the proc was changed to not stun allies or not.  Regardless, if it does, you'd be stunning your allies.  If it doesn't, then it's not doing anything.  You should take that out for... anything else.

 

If you've put thought into not taking Transfusion, I can respect that.  It's got quirks (won't fire off if target dies mid animation, center of heal sphere is too high on giant creatures, finding the right target to heal your teammate) so I'm not going to try to convince you it's needed.  Truth be told, I think at least half of the time I use it in teams is for my own benefit.

 

22 seconds for FS is respectable.  The last build you posted still has a few slots available and might as well use one of them to shave 3 seconds off FS with a Recharge IO. 

 

With another free slot slot, maybe a steadfast -kb in Tough.  I know you have 3 pts -kb from set bonuses, but I'm not sure how that would play out in the real game.  Meaning, I find 4 to be sufficient on a squishie, but I suspect a good amount of kb comes in at a number just above 3.  I don't know that though.  I'd love to hear the experiences of someone that had exactly 3 points. 

 

If you're looking to go into Psychic Mastery, I'd say Mind over Body would provide greater mitigation than World of Confusion.  With MOB you actually reach 75% (cap) s/l resists.  Not too shabby.

 

Something else to consider - I'm not going to say Assault on a Kin is a bad choice, it's going to be a decent source of damage in an AV fight when there aren't enough mobs to fuel a saturated FS, but I'm a big fan of Increase Density, it's one of the game's unique powers.  I do believe it's the only source of -repel in the game.  Teammates would love you against mobs with Hurricane. 

 

Regarding your comment about my build not loading Choking Cloud or Rad Infection, I don't have those powers on my Kin/Sonic.  There seem to be so many versions of Mids/Pines that I certainly can't say I'm using the "standard" so maybe there's some error on my end.  I reloaded the chunk I posted and it was for the Kin/Sonic with 45% fire def and 75% fire res.  I can try again using the data link.  Just a reminder, I don't actually play this, it was just a thought experiment.

Thank you for the input, I'll have to investigate what's going on with the build linking. Then get back to considering your advice and see how the build feels in game.

So, I made a corruptor fire/kin/flame that has around 50% fire defense and hardcapped fire resist (75%). Doing it on a defender should be even easier. As a /kin I have found that its actually more efficient to run with a brute and my fire/kin using my fire build, than it is to run two brutes. This is how I farm most of the time, with one or two other brutes. How many brutes are you running with? If its just one I think my fire/kin/flame corruptor would be be better because you'd do much more dmg yourself. If its 2 brutes, its debatable which one would be faster. At 3 (4 people including yourself) or more the sonic/kin/flame defender would be more efficient due to those excellent -res debuffs.

Here is my take on a fire farming kin/sonic/flame defender that I just made for you. Highlights of the build 150% recharge at all times, 250% with forcefeedback proc, perma hasten (without the FF proc), instasnipe, 4 KB protection, incarnate lvl fire defense (56.8%, this was more a byproduct of chasing hardcapped fire resists than anything else), hardcapped fire resist, hardcapped s/l resist, 32.4% s/l def, 1308 HP (with accolades), amplify recharge of 24s without FF proc 19.7s with the ff proc(with gaussian proc for dmg), and 3.94/s recovery (with accolades). Oh, and it takes the agility alpha.
