Zep Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Any new tricks out there? What gets you though the day with your controller? Slotting Jolt for max recharge for example and just spamming it into a group so all they do is flop around. The 'Ol bonfire in the corner trick? How do you stick it to Sappers to get even? How do you make those bad guys pay for their crimes (or get revenge on those smug do-gooders.) -Thanks- ** Asus TUF x670E Gaming, Ryzen 7950x, AIO Corsair H150i Elite, TridentZ 192GB DDR5 6400, Sapphire 7900XTX, 48" 4K Samsung 3d & 56" 4k UHD, NVME Sabrent Rocket 2TB, MP600 Pro 8tb, MP700 2 TB. Mercurias Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 I hope you feel better soon! Rather than using Bonfire to juggle enemies to a corner, you can slot the Overwhelming Force KB proc into it and juggle them anywhere you like. Rather than hurling them all over creation, the proc makes them bounce there nonstop while taking fire damage. It used to me one of my favorite tricks in the MANY tricks my Fire/Dark troller had up his sleeve on Live, and I'm working on rebuilding him here. Probably my favorite trick as a Troller is any sort of Confuse power. Making enemies fight one another for my amusement is one of the best feelings in the game. I enjoy using Synaptic Static and Electric Cages to force mobs to get into punch-drunk brawls with one another while I stand there and suck their endurance out with Conductive Aura. Make them as weak as kittens. I saw some builds for Elec/Time Trollers that stacked Distortion Field on top of Static Field, and that sounds like a really good time. Slow, Sleep, Hold, -Recharge, and -End in a big area. Immobilize things in there and you're ready for a beat-down.
oedipus_tex Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 (edited) A number of changes since the game have gone live have given rise to the 'melt your soundcard' move I use on my Gravity/Storm troller. The setup: - KB to KD IO in Wormhole - KB to KD IO in Singularity The trick: Use Wormhole to drop enemies directly on top of Singularity. Since Wormhole no longer notifies enemies, you can safely cast it even with line of sight. Enemies will be stunned and wake up directly on top of the Singularity's knockback aura (which is now knockdown). This will usually cause any who weren't stunned to attack Singularity instead of you (at least at first). Singularity mostly won't move from the spot as long as an enemy is directly under it, so you have effectively duplicated the Bonfire effect. If you happen to be a /Storm, add a Tornado and Lightning Storm both with KB to KD IOs to add to the fun. If you are a /Sonic Resonance, hang your debuff donut from Singularity so enemies land in a -Resist effect. I'm sure other secondaries offer similar fun (especially Traps). Downside: the noise is so persistent it may cause your sound card to explode. It is, however, effective. Edited August 1, 2019 by oedipus_tex 2
Zumberge Posted August 1, 2019 Posted August 1, 2019 Finding out that Enflame does magical things when you load it up with proc IOs and making an Illusion/FF that dips heavily into the Sorcery pool, combining pets, control, ranged damage, defense, and mez protection into something for which no words exist to describe it. It was an accident. 2 1 As a Scrapper main I eat a steady diet of crayons and glue to keep my wits sharp and my reflexes honed.

I thought about Lightning Storm - be nice to keep things grouped to increase damage. I also really like the KB from that one. 1-3 LS over your head and many things that would otherwise run up and smack you get a big Ker-ZOT and flung back to a safe distance away. I have a fire storm corrupter I am leveling up - maybe I'll try it on him. Tamorand Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) This is from one of my posts that didn't get received so well as it was buried between a bunch of garbage. DISCLAIMER: The first thing that you hard cores are going to do is dismiss Gale and what I did with it. Because it is so "against" meta or whatever the heck you want to call it, I feel like I have to Pre-Defend it. The abomination you are looking at is Annihilation Chance for -res and get the 2 slot +End bonus Annihilation: D/E/A/Rch x2 Range Force Feedback: chance for +Recharge Sudden Acceleration KB>KD IO I had an incredible discussion with a long time, and respected builder, on these and the previous forums. I will paraphrase our discussion as I don't know if he wants his name attached to said abomination. Gale If you have 6 slots to spend on Gale, you're going to want to make 2 of those slots be a Force Feedback proc for +Recharge and the Sudden Acceleration KB>KD IO. That leaves you 4 slots that can be devoted to other purposes. Slotting for additional Knockback is relatively pointless if you're using the KB>KD IO from Sudden Acceleration. Slotting Gale for Damage is a waste. You use Gale for CONTROL and to buy yourself time to do other things. So if you've got 4 slots and don't need to enhance either Damage or Knockback, what would be important to enhance in Gale? Accuracy Endurance Reduction Recharge Reduction RANGE Unfortunately, you're dealing with Target AoE Sets and Knockbacks Sets for slotting Gale with and none of the HOs that you might want to slot have the particular mix of enhancement values we'd be looking for here. Ideally speaking then, you could (franken)slot: 1 Level 50 Frozen Blast Acc/Dam/End/Rech IO OR 1 Level 50 Overwhelming Force Acc/Dam/End/Rech IO OR 1 Level 50 Annihilation: Chance for -Res And the following 1 Level 50 Annihilation: D/E/A/Rch 2 Level 50 Common Range IOs 1 Level 21 Force Feedback +Recharge IO 1 Level 21 Sudden Acceleration KB>KD IO This slotting would give you KnockDOWN practically "on demand" against whatever is in front of you within about 70-75 ft (which is nearly "normal" ranged attack distance) in a WIDE cone in front of you without needing to use HERDICANE to "neutralize" stuff for you. Note that this strategy may require multiple applications of Gale to bowl over Cimerorans who have a fair amount of KB protection, so don't expect this to be a perfect solution versus everything in the game. But it will significantly advantage your Mercs by giving you a HUGE zone of denial in front of you that can prevent counterattacks reasonably reliably ... and Gale can knock over up to 16 targets, which would be really useful. This then lets you use Gale extremely offensively ... pretty much as fast as it cools down (and badguys get back up on their feet). Use Gale to "juggle" badguys without needing to push them into corners and hold them with HERDICANE in order to prevent them from attacking you (and your Mercs). Use Gale to open on piles of badguys as your alpha strike. Pick the one who is FARTHEST away from you in the pile you want to take on, while out of range of him ... cue Gale ... and then charge into range. You will automagically be rooted into place when you enter Gale range, at which point everything between you and your badguy will be hit by Gale and presumably be KnockDOWNed. Unleash the Kraken Mercs on the helpless baddies and hold your position where you cast Gale. When your Targets "get up" ... hit them with Gale again. You'll learn to know "when" to cast Gale to keep "juggling" them off their feet while your Mercs lay down fire into them. And every time you cast Gale, you will likely be able to proc the Force Feedback +Recharge IO, meaning you want to keep casting Gale as much as possible. Season to taste with other Storm attacks as the situation merits and your comedy appreciation permits. Think Ice Patch in Ice Melee is awesome? Try doing that to an entire dogpile of baddies "on demand" over a HUGE (Cone) area as a way to "ghetto hold" the lot of them while your Mercs are free to do what they do best ... shed brass. ------------------------------------------------------------- All that being said, In practice Gale slotted as above works remarkably well... But the SOUND is annoying after about the 30th Awoooooooosshhh. There is a way to disable the sound or simply turn down the SFX, and I want you all to know I did spend about an hour and a half trying to give you a quick tutorial on how to disable it if you so desired. But I failed, as I found the right sound but couldn't get it to disable. But if you don't like to use Gale, just don't 😛 Edited August 11, 2019 by Tamorand 1
Terrific Tornado Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Hey there Tamorand I LOVE what you have done to Gale, so much so that I’ve slotted this I to my ice/storm controller. I prefer to play at range and it’s given me another soft control that I actually use. Thank you for sharing it and I look forward to getting to 50. I’d love to see a gif/vid of it in action. Many thanks!!

Also the gale thing sounds hilarious, definitely trying. My favorite controller thing lately is entirely visual: Stacking Hot Feet+Entangling Aura+World of Confusion & color to taste. Primarily Entangling+WoC is just the right size to make a neat effect. I'm amused enough that I've held off on respeccing into a patron pet (which I almost always do on controllers, doms & veats). Also, I mean, it's solid synergy all around. Stuff you stand next to has problems :P. Guides: Mastermind Epics | Dominator Secondaries | Suggestions: Mastermind Epic Overhaul

Okay so how it works in theory and partly in practice (I think I'm like level 29 or so, haven't played them in a bit) is that at the door I buff everyone's defense. Dispersion Bubble and a Karma: Knockback Protection give me mez protection and defense, and at mobs I drop either Spectral Terror or Phantom Army, Deceive a lieutenant that looks like it can cause trouble, drop Enflame on a second guy (with energy, lethal, and -res procs in it) to smear around a little damage, and start hitting a boss with the single-target hold, Phantom Wounds, and Arcane Bolt (and later Mental Blast). If anyone's health dips they get the Spirit Ward to keep them going or buy them time to finish off whatever's hitting them, and if everything goes right (and it usually does) I get through with little to no aggro on me. tl;dr, fewer people get attacked, fewer hits from the attacks get through, fewer damage from the hits stick, I don't have to stock my tray full of Break Frees, pew pew. It started as a way to keep busy since Ill/FF isn't a very active combination compared to things like Plant/Kin, but it fits the character since her "canon" kit is utility and indirect support (and divination, but anyone can get Reveal for 10,000 inf at a P2W).
