DM/Bio (or Fire/Bio) could also be a choice with the +dmg bonus on Offensive Adaptation.
-
Why Musculature Alpha? If you get Spiritual you have perma-hasten. Not fond of Medicine Pool myself, Aid Self gets interrupted way too often with dots and stuff. Focused Accuracy is very underslotted and I miss Combat Jumping in that build.

what skill would you replace to put shockwave back into the build? My mistake, totally forgot about the KB to KD IO. In any case, you will not need Strike for a good ST attack chain. Follow Up, Slash, Swipe and Focus are plenty for that so you can skip Strike at the beginning, move your power choices a bit and make room for Showckwave at lvl 32. Strike is interesting at early levels when underslotted but totally skippable afterwards since Swipe will give you a better DPS

To be honest with you, Shadow Maul is a good power if used properly, it's a decent cone that requires proper positioning but people don't bother and use it in their ST atatck chain, therefore is a dps loss if used incorrectly. DM is a great set but lacks AoE so, if you are going to skip the cone, you should make up for said AoE somewhere else. On the other hand, Shadow Punch won't do anything for you, it used ti be a great ST power until it got nerfed so it is totally skippable. Note that gadgetry pool does not exist in game, it is just a project that never saw the light and, as far as i know, there are no plans to implement it. Jump Kick is another power you do not need. Granted the animation is one of the coolest but it is way too long for the pitiful damage it delivers. Instead of Gadgetry, I would recommend you Fighting Pool (Boxing/Kick are just to access Tough which will help you a lot making your Scrapper harder to kill, Weave is a choice only if you want to boost your defenses with set IOs). You take Acrobatics too late in the build and it is also a skippable power since the KB Protection IOs (Karma KB Prot and Steadfast Protection KB Prot) cost only 20 merits each, you can allocate a Karma one in Combat Jumping and a Steadfast Portection in Temperature Protection hence you do not need Acrobatics. Hasten is another power that will benefit you greatly, especially for your heals to activate often, as well as your main AoE Dmg Source, Burn (with Soul Drain to maximize its dmg). Fire Ball is an excelent option plus, you can also slot Fire Blast and incorporate it to your ST attack chain to avoid gaps but Fire Ball should be taken at lvl 47 as the latest otherwise, it will be underslotted (lvl 49 power can only have the last 3 slots granted at level 50). Also, if you slot your attacks with end reduction as well as your Blazing aura and the rest of toggles (your shields require end reduction to a lesser degree than attacks and Blazing Aura) you will not need both Consume and Dark Consumption (unless there are no better choices left towards the end of the build). My suggestion would be to take one of them and if later on you realize it is not enough (once decently slotted for end rdx) then take the other one. If you take both, I would not bother slotting them other than a recharge reduction IO on their default slot though.

I used to think so but with Spines lack of ST dmg, said farms better not include Bosses and of course Elite Bosses. For a pimped out expensive build, I'd recommend you try SS/Fire or for what I am hearing as of lately, Rad/Fire. However, if you are determined on Spines, can try something like this: Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Almost perma-hasten (0.7 secs downtime), decent resistances and manageable end consumption. If instead of Spiritual you go for Cardiac on your Alpha Slot, your end consumption will be virtually nothing and you will round up your resistances at the expense of perma-hasten where you will get a 12 seconds downtime, not too bad but I understand may be not acceptablo. Anyway, just a suggestion build aimed to give you ideas.

Can't remember exactly how did that Destiny power worked but if I am not mistaken, it was losing efficacy gradually so I think you won't be able to manage your massive endurance consumption. Also, your build lacks ST dmg so it may not be the best idea for farming groups with bosses in, you'd better select no bosses on your notoriety. You softcapped melee def, which is good but I think you should have softcapped S/L def, which is even better. No need to slot Taunt with Acc (that's for pvp only plus, no need of Taunt at all) and maybe that extra slot you did not allocate should be invested in a Kismet +Acc to make up for the lack of accuracy in the Kinetic Combat sets. I see a very expensive build with a few overkills on some things and lacking on other things such as accuracy or HP. Resistances look awesome but then I realized they are like that with Hybrid slot. Does that Hybrid toggle work 100% of the time? if not, you probably better stick to fire dmg enemies with no bosses. I would personally sofctap S/L def, boost acc, res and HP and get serious management on the endurance consumption front.

Regarding power selection, I think that WP benefits greatly from Fighting Pool plus Energy Mastery feels like an overkill however, your survivability will tell you if they are good choices or not, if you are happy with it then no need to change on that front. What I really don't like is that you have put some expensive sets there (Mako's Bite, Scirocco's Dervish, Touch of Death, Titanium Coating) slotte dto get the +def bonus but those sets are stron granting positional defense and WP has typed defense so you are not getting good returns compared with the investment you made.

To be honest I think you have left out a few basics from DA that I am sure they affect your surivability plus the endurance management is probably a nightmare. First and mos urgent thing I would do would be to get a couple KB protection IO's (karma or steadfast protection) and get rid of Acrobatics. Also, you should probably start working towards your Alpha Incarnate Slot and go with the Cardiac branch until you get Cardiac Core Paragon that will make your endurance manageable plus will round up a bit your resistances. Dark Armor is a set that offers resistance to all kinds of dmg in various degrees of effectivity, from great resistances on, for example, psi dmg to meager resistances on energy dmg. It also offers a certain amount of defense with cloak of darkness that I think you should build up with more defense from sets / pool powers, plus, said defense will work really well with the to hit debuff from Cloak of fear as well as from all dark melee powers. Add Dark Obliteration from Soul Mastery and you will round up your AoE dmg as well as getting an AoE debuff since Dark Melee kinda lacks on the aoe department. In your build, I do not think that two travel powers are doing anything for you and neither will Shadow Punch or slotting Boxing, since you are lvl 50, you can skip Shadow Maul unless you want to exemplar to do low level content and choose other powers instead. I personally never take hasten on dark characters for concept reasons but I fully understand it is a very efficient power. If I am struggling to get a fuild ST attack chain, I prefer incorporating one of the epic pool blasts, especially Gloom because of how well DoT works with Fury. I have suggested a few Dark/ Dark builds in different threads in the Brute section so I will try cooking something different and if you wish, you can check other posts to comparte and get ideas: Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Gloom is to be incorporated to your ST chain and since it seems not many people like Shadow Maul, I opted for leaving it out so Spring Attack and Dark Obliteration are my main sources of AoE complemented with Soul Drain. This is mainly an experimental build, if you are not happy with Presence Pool can always ditch it for the usual boxing / tough / weave and if you do not like Soul Mastery, Energy Mastery is always a good choice, Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection only need base slot, then Energy Torrent adds AoE and active dmg mitigation plus you'd free a few slots to allocate wherever you feel like. I hope I gave you some ideas.

Looking to Rebuild a Brute as a scrapper ?/Super Reflexes (opinions?)
Nightmarer replied to demonss's topic in Scrapper
Dark Melee is a toolbox set, a heay hitter that also immobilizes, a heavy hitting self heal, a powerful ST debuffer that also terrorizes foes, an awesome aoe Build Up that also deals AoE dmg but what makes it work so well with SR is that all its attacks have a To Hit Debuff component that works great with defense. If you get some additional AoE via pool powers (spring attack is ok) or via ancillary pools (Fire Ball for more dmg, Energy Torrent also adds active dmg mitigation, Night Fall/Tenebrous Tentacles also add aoe ToHit debuff) you will have an amazing scrapper overall. -
Hurl is probably a better power... but man, throwing laser beams from your eyes, that's another level of awesomeness.
-
And that my friend is one of the greatest things in the game and the reason why dmg parser would be pointless, the longer you stay alive, the longer you keep dealing dmg (and even more so in the case of a Brute). Waiting for people to ask for a "Recount type" parser and laugh :)

This one is a variation I have been thinking about as of lately, I would like to try a DA without Fighting Pool, the softcapped S/L def, the active mitigations of DA (Oppressive Gloom and Cloak of Fear) plus the two heals (Siphon Life and Dark Regeneration) and in this case using Air Superiority's KD effect also as active mitigation could be enough to offset the loss of S/L resistance by skipping Tough plus, one less toggle makes end management easier. Another variation could be using Presence Pool, Invoke Panic would work great with Cloak of Fear and Touch of Fear, in any case, this is a build I thin that can be worth trying, worst case scenario would be to have to respec and get Fighting Pool: Villain Plan by Mids' Villain Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! Ok, this would be my usual choice, softcapped to S/L defense for survivability, both aoe and st to hit debuff to complement said defense, decent resistances with Cardiac Core Paragon and good endurance management also with cardiac Core Paragon. Overall +rchg is 52% which is decent, you'd have to incorporate Gloom on your ST attack chain (Gloom is great for Brutes because how the ticks interact with your Fury) and you are also covered in the AoE department with Dark Obliteration. Since herding with DA is always complex because of the stun and fear auras, instead of micromanaging auras on and off, just target a boss in the group, hit him with Darkest Night, hide behind a corner and wait for the whole group to come to you. In this case, Weave is there only as a mule for a LotG and can be used as a panic button. Same for Hover, it's just a mule for a LotG but can be helpful against caltrops or when speed boosted in maps that are complicated to navegate. With Cardiac Core Paragon your endurance consumption gets manageable and your resistances get decently round up, however, I think you skipped a lot of important powers: Soul Drain: Best BU in game, just take it. Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom: DA is a set where everything helps, I made the mistake of skipping OG in my DA/DA Scrapper thinking I did not need it and he became overnight a fine vengeance bait, even better than any blaster. I honestly do not understand Medicine Pool, Dark Regeneration is awesome heal even if not slotted for healing and your slotting will very well grant you an additional 5% rchg but with the low accuracy you are skipping one of the bet heales in game, also, one of your best damage dealing attacks that also helps with a heal is not slotted for damage or accuracy. Anyone who has fighted Ghost Widow in STF knows very well. Also, the synergy is so that when you have them rounded up for your Dark Regeneration and get your HP back you are in a perfect position to use your Soul Drain and annihilate everything around you. Also, for a meager 12% defense, I can't see the point of having a +3% def IO, you won't be better with 12% def instead 9%. I usually never get Hasten on Dark sets because of concept so not sure I could dive into the build and keep Hasten perma but note that Hasten does not stack so 109 scks rchg are as good as 119.9 secs rchg so you can use the extra slots somewhere else or review a few sets taken just for the +rchg. As for vertical travel power, just get Super Jump. I honestly think that you have used many +rchg sets in detriment of other more useful utilities, +rchg won't keep you alive, the active mitigation combined with resistances, defense and mez will. I gave you my criticism trying to be constructive however, I have to admit that I cannot suggest any build since I would always aim for S/L softcap and would not get hasten so, if you feel perma-hasten is that important on a Dark / Dark, go ahead, I just tried giving you some ideas to think about.
-
SR is a gamble but the primary can change it a lot, it benefits a lot from primaries with any form of dmg mitigation and, if I recall correctly, there was some aoe knockdown with DB. On the other hand, DB benefits greatly from the +rchg in SR (or elec ).
-
For farming you will be far better with a Spines/WP, either Brute or Scrapper than with a SS/WP. Claws and Savage Melee can also work for you, although Claws will probably work better paired with /elec, in fact, in the old forums there was a massive thread talking about Claws/Elec Brutes regarding farming and other stuff. WP is a solid set that needs little to shine but for farming, you need more AoE damage so Spines, Mace or Axe should do the trick for you for a solid, inexpensive build apt for farming.
-
Body Mastery is usually the chocie I take on weapon holding chars so I avoid redraw (I think that was fixed). Still, I would recommend you go instead (or as well) DB/SR and enjoy becoming a buzzsaw in an endless killi...erm, arresting, fest.

I tried a few new combos that so far I am loving: DM/Bio, Siphon Life does wonders for survivability on Offensive Adaptation and that extra dmg makes me silly giggle when I use Soul Drain. Savage/Nin, so far is awesome. Was soon as I take him to lvl 35 will add one of the blasts to the single attack chain, doubting with Soul Mastery and two ST attacks (dark blast and insta-snipe) that also debuff foes ToHit, Darkness Mastery for a ST attack and a cone attack that also debuff foes ToHit or Blaze Mastery with a ST attack and more AoE goodness (Fire Blast and Fire Ball) that also debuff foes HP with a feast of orange numbers. Loving these two, next one in my list to try is Ice/DA

Elec/Dark - cosmetic question, also Scrapper vs. Brute
Nightmarer replied to Keilis's topic in Scrapper
I had a lvl 50 elec/shield brute back in the day and to be honest with you, elec melee always felt a tad lackluster on a brute, lots more than other sets which shine later on or when the fury bar starts moving up seriously (such as claws or dm) so I'd go scrapper. As to elec/dark, afraid I can't be of assistance, from afar I'd say the combo lacks synergy but to be totally honest with you, the reason I never tried is because I have a hard time picturing a right concept for the combo. In any case, for what is worth, I'd go scrapper with elec melee. -
Glad you like it :). Since you get granted a free respec every 10 lvls, you can change your choices easily, basically I am saying this because you don't really need medicine (healing flames is way better than aid self) and without Tough, lack of active mitigation from Fire (and not so much either from Claws) will be of great assistance. Flight as a travel power is a choice as good as others, you can slot Hover same way you would slot Combat Jumping, still, combat jumping offers more than Hover in terms of movement agility, endurance reduction and immobilization protection. Hover on the other hand, depsite the much higher end consumption and slow movement, works really well when caltrops or when speed boosted in uncomfortable maps plus also transforms knockback in just a backflip on same spot so it is a KB portection of sorts. Of course, your choices are up to you, what works for me does not necessarily work for players with different gameplay style.
-
Plus Combat Jumping also protects against immobilization. I think it is a basic power.

To be honest, with all the respecs we're being granted for free, I think the best you can do is try powers and combinations and choose whatever works best for your gameplay which is probably one of the most awesome features in CoH, how same powerset combo can be adapted to many different gameplays and still be efficient. For soloing the SJ cone is very lackluster but last night, during a Manticore TF, I found out that with a good tank that herds mobs properly, it gets lots more effective and lots more fun to play. Mind you, all Brute attacks seem lackluster at the beginning until Fury bar starts moving up (sorry, not sure if you are new to the game, if not, this is just advice in good faith, not trying to lecture or be patronizing).
