What are some of your most effective weird builds?
Heatstroke replied to EniEni's topic in Archetypes
I dont know if I would classify some of these as " weird " more of " different" because I rarely see these combos. All of the are effective Dark/Bio Sentinel Ice/Spines Tank Stone/Bio Brute Elec/SS Tank (aka Malta;s worse nightmare) Ice/Storm Defender Elec/Time Corruptor Water/Ice Sentinel Ice/Ice Stalker All Human Peacebringer All Human Warshade Some builds I no longer play. Ice/Thorn Dominator Very Melee Centric..Made a lot of scrappers really jealous. Rad/Fire Blaster... also build very melee centric. That build could easily hold a door on BAFs by himself.. -

From childhood Arthur Ames suffered from constant spasms and seizures. As he approchaed puberty he was also seemed to develop a type of ADHD. His mind was always moving, he was constantly active, running around and had trouble sleeping. Then one day Arthur while at home with his parents, he released a pulse of energy that knocked out every electrical system in the house. His parents took him to GIFT and they discovered that Arthur was a metahuman that drew enegry from an unknown force that seemed to focus on energy and velocity. This force which Arthur dubbed "The Juice" increased his speed, reaction time, thought processes, and even his healing Factor. The constant influx of energy increased the electical charge in Arthur's body allowing him to create and even absorb electrical attacks. Arthur is also highly resistant to energy based attacks. He can even boost the speed of others. Arthur now works with GIFT as the hero "Overdrive". This is my build.. I made him and kind of an idea of a Electric Super Speed Character. Based of the characters " Juice " from Justice League Unlimited and " A-train" from the Boys. While I did not build in any defense in the build I also have a T4 Barrier Incarnate built for tougher things that I can switch to. He plays very well as a sapper quickly draining mobs down to zero end to limit their attacks and to increase the chance of the " Shocked " mechanic to trigger. Why not just make a corruptor?

Strangely enough you can actually do BOTH.. You can make a theme based build that is also highly effective.. Imagine that..

I made the shield electric looking.. Took Ninja Run as a power.. This changes the position of the shield to be in front of you when moving so you are running BEHIND the shield.. Looks much better than the standard run. Nothing beats the AoE of Shield Charge, Lightning Rod, Thunderstrike combo for AoE on a Stalker, especially since SC and LR dont break hide.

Here is what I used to determine what proc im going to put in which power. I dont know exactly how accurate it is, but so far it seems to be pretty close. https://proc-calc.weebly.com/

HA interestingly enough the TWO characters that I have that DON'T have hasten. Willpower/SS Tank and SR/Street Brute..
-
This made me do a count of all my characters and LoTG's Global recharge IOs in builds 0-2 1-4 2-6 3-14 4-8 5-19 So basically its like Franks Red Hot.. I put that #&#%@ on everything LOL

Again see builds is not an inidcation of what is good or isnt good. You see a lot of Inv/SS because its a classically icon hero thing. Just think of the sheer amount of characters that fly, are hard to damage and have super strength . Dark Melee has synergy with Inv because Inv is a defense based set and since the main secondary effect of Dark is -to hit, it has good synergy with Defense based sets. EM works perfectly fine. I had good single target damage and decent AoE. Once again just because you dont see A LOT of builds, that doesnt mean the powerset isnt good.
-
Just because you dont see a bunch of builds for something doesnt mean that it isnt good. Many people play multiple different builds. I myself have probably 8-10 different tank builds that I play across accounts/servers and thats just the tanks. Inv/Em has been around since 'live" 20 years ago, and because its not one of the " newer " powersets it might not get as much coverage as new stuff like Bio, Rad and things that are being built specifically for farming. I always say this... LEARN TO MAKE YOUR OWN BUILDS.. Then you dont need to rely on other people's builds. You will discover what works for you and whats fun for you, and you might find something that isnt super popular but is very fun. And yes I have an Inv/Em

Build your character however you want. Ive used 5 LOTG many times depending on the character. Obviously for some build especially those built with long recharge powers, the more recharge you have the better. But not every character needs that. It often depends on build and what you are trying to accomplish. Unfortunately a lot of people dont learn HOW to build their own characters. They just copy what others do.

Water Primary with Water Secondary for Dominator's and other Builds?
Heatstroke replied to Azurik20's topic in Dominator
Ive been saying for YEARS there needs to be Water Assault for Dominators. I think Dominators are pretty much the forgotten class in this game. Still waiting for Wind Control too. -
One of my old SG mates taught me years ago the value of synergy, stringing powers together that compliment one another. I also failed to mention my Storm Blast/Energy Aura Sentinel that uses the Mu power pool of Electrifying Fences to keep groups nice and clumped together for Storm Cell, Category 5 nuke combo and , Jet Stream and Static Discharge, and Chain Lightning for AoE.

This is the build I am currently running for a DP/SR Sentinel. Works pretty good for me. Softcapped well for most things,

Here is my build as it stands currently on Live. With Hasten Hoarfrost is Perma, so having a massice HP boost and Heal up whenever needed in combination with Hibernate really aids survivability. Ignore where the Travel Powers are placed.. pretty sure I changed that just didnt update the build. Hope this helps.

I have played a few Ice Armor tanks. My original tank was an Ice/Stone back on live, but I made an Ice/Spines tank which plays much better IMO. Ice has several things that work in its favor. Chilling Embrace isnt just a good taunt aura (and its one of the best), but it also has a -recharge, and -damage. You get attacked less and you take less damage. Hoarfrost is both a massive HP boost and a Massive Heal. So you can either use it t buff your HP, or use it as a heal and with enough recharge you can also make it Perma. Hibernate is a great OH CRAP power makes you invulnerable while you heal. but your taunt will stop working so you team is on its own for a moment. Energy Absorption. Is not just an End recovery power. It is also a + Defense power. Very Useful when facing things with annoying -defense. I went with Spines because adding in Quills with its -recharge and -spd was great synergy with Ice Armor. I went with Cardiac for my Incarnate Alpha.. Zero end issues.. Barrier for the Defense and Resists... Good Luck killing me..

How to fix Storm Summoning; A Hot Take
Heatstroke replied to ValiantBlu's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Absolutely Not. Storm Summoning is absolutely fine the way it is. Ice/Storm Controller Fire/Storm Controller Plant/Storm Contoller Ice/Storm Defender Storm/Storm Corruptor Water/Storm Corruptor STORM IS JUST FINE !!!! -
Rad/Fire is absolutely one of the best Sentinel builds.. I am working on a Rad/Rad Sent now to replace a Rad/Rad Corruptor.
-
Try a Dark/Bio. The survability is incredibly ridiculous.

Im currently working or rerolling my Rad/Rad Corruptor into a Rad/Rad Senintel
