  1. Seriously? I didn't know it only worked when power Siphon was up. Hmm... And I have a dark/dp defender. It's pretty awesome!
  2. Hey all. Thinking of trying something totally new. Looking at building a tank debuffer, and Ice or Shield paired with Kinetic Melee sounds like a gem. It appears you could pump out a LOT of -damage debuff...especially with Darkest Night. Is -damage debuff actually worth it? Is the debuff noticeable? Or should I go back to the drawing board and maybe build something for -to hit debuff, or -defense debuff? Thanks for any input. -X
  3. I don't have PB, and you can see that I have my Necro pets at 45.05% Defense.
  4. I run necro/ff. I have the pet uniques, and my pets are at 45% defense. Without power boost.
  5. My DP/Martial blaster has soft capped defenses, and is a hoot to play.
  6. Don't need PB on FF to get pets to softcap.
  7. Greetings all ! I've not played Empathy since about issue 5 on Live. Someone that has ran with my SG has recently been talking about how her Empath has been such a valuable asset on some HM content...well, any content actually. So it got me thinking that maybe I should revisit the powerset after all these years. Now, on Live I had an Empathy/Electric defender. He ended up being nothing but a heal bot. Took everything from Empathy, and like 3 attacks. All slots were dedicated to Empathy powers and Leadership. I played him before IOs, and before ED., if that tells you anything. Anyway, think I'm gonna give it another shot, and decided to pair it with Water. Figured he would be an ex priest who performed exorcists, but left the church because of too much red tape. There were more so many exorcisms that needed to be done, but he had to get "approval" before he could do anything. While waiting for said approval, some of the subjects perished, when he knew he could have saved them. His Water Blast powers are Holy Water that he uses, while using his Faith and divine powers to Heal. So, my question is what kind of recharge are other Empaths getting Recovery and Regeneration Auras down to? In Mids the build I slapped together have those 2 powers recharging in like 120 seconds, with duration of 90 seconds. Since it's been decades since I've played Empathy, anyone care to share thoughts on it now, suggested slotting, etc? I would greatly appreciate it. - X
  8. I think necro/time would be a powerhouse also. Couldn't softcap defenses, but with all the -to hit debuffs stacked with Time...plus heals....might be my next toon.
  9. I agree with what's been said for the most part. Personally, whether I'm playing an MM or a Tank, I love to see a Thermal on the team. Most players stress and push as hard as they can to soft cap their defenses, that they kinda forget about Resists. Thermal isn't the "best" , but it has a lot going for it. Every secondary is gonna have some things that stick out, but that doesn't mean you should give up on Thermal. It DOES pair well with Demons. I would suggest, as mentioned, get the pet uniques ASAP (+resist, +defense). Also take Maneuvers, Tactics, and Assault. And of course Hasten to speed up your buggs/debuffs/HoE. And team. Teams will, in my experience, enjoy having a Thermal. I was on my Necro/FF on a team, and had several teammates state that they love seeing a FF'er on the team. Same will apply to Thermal.
  10. I'd put the cloud senses proc in Dark Servant so it could contribute a little damage.
  11. Yes, I took the attacks. I constantly attack to ensure that I spawn the Spectres, plus to help with damage and the little bit of -to hit. Also, with how I slotted Life Drain, it heals for 115HP. Doesn't sound like a lot, but that's 13% of my total health. I'm sure there are probably better ways to slot (like the Soulbound Proc in GKs for one), but so far it's working out really good for me. I think Soul Extraction if off perma by like 13 seconds? I'm gonna keep on playing, finish off my Incarnates, and maybe try to tweak a little bit here and there. 12. Greetings all ! After reading insights on the revamped Necro, I decided to pair it with FF. From what I gathered, the pets could achieve a decent amount of mitigation, with the slotting potential of Dark Empowerment being the icing on the cake. I figured if they could reliably self heal, plus have Panacea, Numina's , Regenerative, and Imp Skin procs working together in unison , then if I could bump their defenses up, then they could be a nice little powerhouse. Finally got my newest project to 50 and at least T1 on all incarnate powers. All I can say is....I believe this is my new favorite MM! I did not take any Epic Powers (didn't have the room/slots to reap any benefit). I got all my pets to 45% defense to all (except psi and toxic). And it is glorious. They are so sturdy. With the procs in Dark Empowerment , their heals, and the OF proc in zombies, they are hard to kill. Well, they're zombies. So they're already dead...so does that make them hard to get double killed? Anyway, you get the picture. Such a strong and fun powerset. Highly recommend to anyone that wants something different , or has never played either set.
  13. Does the Overwhelming Force: damage/chance for KD really help in Zombies? I went Heat Mastery and picked up Bonfire. I've got the OF proc slotted in it.
  14. If it's mainly for team play, I'd suggest to slot your shields with a bit more defense. Damping bubble, IMO, is way overslotted. I'm running a Necro/FF MM, and I only have a LOTG:Defense/global recharge in it. The best I can tell, adding more Defense to it doesn't really do anything. The Defense Debuff Resistance, along with all the other resistances it offers, stayed the same whether i had 1 Defense in it or 4. And with a decent amount of global recharge, it can be made to be perma.
  15. nice @StrikerFox. I wish I could have put another Heal or 2 in DE, but I'm /FF, and needed the extra slots to the shields to get the pets to the soft cap.

There ya go. I went Vigor and Melee Core for the HP/Regen, and the extra resists. It's totally insane how much you regen with RttC and Melee Core fully saturated. And I think I dropped Assault for Taunt.

I know this is from last year, but to the OP...I feel like you also need to factor in your secondary power set. For example, /Dark will debuff your enemies' To Hit, plus has a heal. Staff can increase your defense and add resistance as well. I built my WP/Staff for max HP and max regen. If memory serves me correctly, when RttC is fully saturated, I hit well over 225 hp/sec. With soft capped f/c/e/ne defenses. Most people will say that a stone tank running Granite is the "tankiest", followed by Invuln. I say, choose what fits your theme/concept and run with it. Of all my tanks, and I have a LOT, I enjoy my WP/Staff the most. Probably my 2nd favorite is Bio/Rad.
  19. @StrikerFox, I'm curious, how are you slotting Necro's upgrades?
  20. Wow! So they DO work on the pets?! Yay!!! I didn't even think of Imp Skin. I'm guessing that's slotted in Enchant? Wouldn't it be awesome if you slotted Steadfast:+resist/Def in Enchant AND it transferred the bonus to them?
  21. So, Numina's and Regenerative does not work?
  22. Not at my computer (on phone), but here's a few things to consider. Nature needs recharge, and lots of it. You want wild growth, wild bastion, and overgrowth up as often as possible. Same for Soul Extraction. Your pets will benefit from some end reduction. Not sure about the Achilles in Grave Knights (not sure how often it could proc) The Pet IOs will help tons (2 + resists, 2 + defense, and the other Superior...can't remember the name). Even if slotted in Soul Extraction, all your pets will get the benefit. You can slot Resist Damage IOs in Enchant. It will give your pets more Resist. I usually put between 2-4 pieces of Unbreakable in it, and the Steadfast +res/Def there. Dark Empowerment...I've learned that if you slot the Panacea, Numina's, etc procs in it, your pets will receive the benefit of it (but not you). Helps to keep them healed up (health and end). Lich....I always throw a Cloud Senses proc in him. About every power he uses has a chance to proc it. He doesn't do much damage at all, so might as well put To Hit Debuff there, and/or a 1/2 of the Pet Uniques. That's just what I can think of off the top of my head. When I can, I'll get on my pc and look a bit closer and maybe throw a build together to give you ideas. I myself was really close to rolling necro/nat, but instead decided to give Force Fields a shot.
